I think most people understand weddings aren’t like a house party, where everyone and their dog is invited. It’s an exciting time, and I think people understand that, but I’m still new to the planning, so maybe that view will change. ๐Ÿ™‚

I post all the time about my wedding!! I have 355 friends and 50 on the list were told they would get an invite… I could care less what everyone else thinks, I rarely see them.

I’ve posted a few things, but not every single thing.

I made one ‘yay, we’re engaged!’ post, uploaded an album that was simply titled the date of our proposal (and didn’t publish it, they had to go look for it), and changed our relationship status. Then, I made a secret fb group for my bridesmaids, and that’s where I put the photos of the dress I chose, update on the planning and dress shopping, etc.

That way people who aren’t invited don’t get the wrong idea from my facebook posts, and I don’t have those awkward so when is the wedding/when do the invites go out/etc Qs. Those conversations are awkward enough in person, even worse when they’re posted on your wall for 4 hours before you notice it…and then do you delete it? Answer politely that they’re not invited (for all the world to see)? It’s just awkward.

If I wouldn’t have updated about my wedding plans so much I wouldn’t have had 7 DJ’s to choose from who said they’d do it for free and lots of friends willing to ‘make’ things for me =) plus that’s how I got my photographer (cheap too) hehe it really seems to be working in my favor.

I do. I figure I am happy and excited about if and if people don’t want to read it or get jealous because they think they aren’t invited then they can just block me! lol.

Once in awhile I post wedding-related stuff… like “FINALLY found a caterer!” or “so when do I turn into Bridezilla??”.

@DCSquared: It is super useful for our group, because of my 6 gals, we’re all in different states other than my sister (who lives with me). So having a secret group that no one else gets to see worked out so much easier than emailing everyone all the time. And now they know where to find each other for planning anything, if they choose to.

I did some, but most of it was related to immigration and what our status was with it.
