How and when did you announce your pregnancy to facebook? I want to share it with a photo. My husband and I had disney ear hats that say mr Fouts 8.18.2012 and mrs Fouts 8.18.2012 and so we thought we would get on for baby that said Baby Fouts August 2013. Take a photo of the 3 of them and caption it something like “New Disney lover coming soon”.
How did you do it? Do you have a photo you chould share with me?

Whatever you do, don’t post an ultrasound picture. The Baby Fouts August 2013 sounds very classy.

@MrsBroccoli: Just out of curiosity, why are you offended by ultrasound pictures?

@lovebugfouts: I think that sounds really cute! I saw one the other day that was just their maternity pictures from about 7 months. It was very sweet and I think it was nice for them because they didn’t have a bunch of not-close friends bugging them about the pregnancy in the earlier months.

I like your idea, especially if people know y’all are into Disney. Some people do stuff like that to be cute but it is so out of their personality it’s weird. One of my friends did it with Chuck Taylor’s and a baby pair and I have never seen them wear them in real life.

@lovebugfouts: That sounds adorable!

I’m not pregnant or TTC, but I’m not planning on doing a Facebook announcement. I didn’t do an engagement announcement, I won’t do a wedding announcement… Facebook is for public information, and I prefer private things like pregnancies and life changing events to be kept offline.

@travellingfool: A lot of people feel that ultrasound pics are just a bit too personal and Too Much Information for facebook – a sentiment I agree with, but a lot of other people I know apparantely do not, judging from the ultrasound pics many people I know now use as their profile pic (which, come on, you are not your child) and the people asking me why I haven’t posted any yet.
I don’t have a huge FB friends list so I do definitely mention life events on it and did announce that we’re pregnant on it. But since most people already knew, we did it in a more subtle way. I posted a status saying I’d had a doctor’s appointment that morning as was excited that Darling Husband and I got to see our baby for the first time.
I LOVEEEE the Disney ear idea. Might just be because I’m a Disney nerd though, haha. A lot better than the photos it seems like people I went to high school with always use that involve jars of Prego spaghetti sauce or the movie Knocked Up…

@travellingfool: Since you asked, I think it’s inappropriate to broadcast the inside of your uterus, regardless of what it contains. I wouldn’t post pictures of my colonoscopy. They’re internal organs. It’s not a baby yet. It will be if everything goes well, but right now it’s a picture of your uterus to verify that your unborn, undeveloped baby isn’t deformed or dead.

@MrsBroccoli: Well, depending on when the ultra sound was taken and if they are announcing it once they know everything is all well and good. They shouldn’t have to worry about any dead babies…
Also, if the photo is of a 12 week fetus it very much does look like a baby and is not just a bundle of cells anymore.
For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t post my ultra sound pic either, but I am definitely not offended by them.

I posted our 12w ultrasound the Friday before Christmas and said something like “what did (hubby’s name) and I ask Santa for Christmas? A healthy baby! Eta June 2013 <3” alot of people loved it. It got more notice than just a status update. So I would do a picture for sure. The Disney ear picture idea is adorable!

I announced on Thanksgiving – all throughout November I would post something everyday that I was thankful for, and so on Thanksgiving I said I was most thankful for the little baby growing inside me and said I was expecting in June. 🙂 It was very well-received! I have been impressed with how many “likes” I get if I post something about the baby or a belly pic (I definitely don’t overdo it, I’ve only posted 2 belly pics and it was at the request of other people! I thought people would scoff at me and be like “noone cares” lol)
Earlier this week I posted a sonogram from my anatomy scan and said the tech said it looks like a girl, as well. 🙂 I’d never put the ultrasound or my baby pics as my profile pic because it isn’t me, but I don’t see anything wrong with posting US pics. Saves me the trouble of emailing or texting them to everyone who wants to see it. I live in a different state than all of my family and 99% of my friends, so they like seeing the updates. I don’t keep a bunch of random strangers on my friends list, so I have no problem with sharing the information with our friends.

I posted an ultrasound picture. I didn’t know people found that sort of thing offensive. *shrug*

I like your Disney idea. I’m not a fan of ultrasounds on FB, either. Too personal.
