I just changed my name on Facebook.  I didn’t create a new account. It would be a complete pain in the butt to create a new account.

Yeah, that’s kind of crazy/dumb.

Here’s my thing: Yes, she got married. But does that mean she’s a *completely* different person?

Apparently she seems to think that getting married means you have to give up your identity, and I’m just not down with that.

I mean… unless she used to be a super huge slut and doesn’t want her ex-lovers to find her, or something…. then I just can’t understand why someone wouldn’t just change their name, you know?

That’s crazy and moronic… Does that mean she created a new email address aswell? You can only have one account per email address right?

Wait, so she “demanded” to come to your wedding. Are you letting her? Or are you not inviting her?

Oy. From everything you’ve described, she sounds like a little girl who’s excited to be trying on her mom’s grown-up heels.  I hope once the novelty wears off, she won’t discover that she made a huge mistake just because she was so excited to “be a wife,” rather than to be a wife to THIS PARTICULAR MAN.

@Corilee13: Yikes.  Agreed. It’s admirable to do what’s right for you and stick to your principles; but rushing into marriage just to be able to have sex just makes a mockery of those principles.

Tell her your Facebook Friends space is really small, so you can’t accomodate her friend request.

Haha, I hate when I get a friend request from “MeganJohn Walters”  Or whatever.  Umm, why do you NEED a family FB?!  Can’t you maintain your own identity after marriage?!  It’s ridiculous.  I fully intend to keep my FB and let my Fiance keep his, as separate entities, after we are married.

As far as making a new personal profile for the “new you” after marriage, that is just a desperate ploy for attention.  People probably didn’t pay very much attention to her wedding updates on her original profile.  So, she wants it to be clear to EVERYONE that she’s married.  She’s probably one of the lovely people that writes, “My hubby” in every single last post…

My cousin has about five personal profiles on FB.  She’ll stay on one for a few months, then make another one.  So, I get a request from her and I’m like, “Don’t I already have her on my FB?!”  Literally, she is on my friend list twice.  She just makes profiles and abandons them.  If you want a fresh start on FB, all you have to do is erase everything and write something else.  But, I’m not sure why anyone needs a “fresh start” on FB, anyway.  Everything I put on FB documents who I really am.  I’m not a 16 year old butterfly, constantly changing everyday.

No I think that the joint facebook accounts and emails for people are completely crazy.  You still are individuals even if you are married.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Haha… my husband and I *do* have an joint email account, but it was our “wedding” email account. We used it for vendors and for our invites and stuff.

Now, we only use it for stuff like our Mint.com account and bills… things we both need to be able to see. Everything else we use our own accounts.
