this isn’t a Die Hard movie where someone’s first reaction is to pull out a gun and return fire.  what a moron.

I’m seeing people posting those memory ribbons with the batman symbol in them. It makes me cringe but whatever.

There’s a Congressmen that made a statement to the same effect today.  He also blamed the shooting on the lack of Christian teachings in public schools but that’s a separate issue.

@redheadem:  Yeah I kind of have mixed feelings about that.  I guess it’s nice that people are thinking of the victims but it’s still a comic book character.

Ugh, my sister’s husband turned today into a FB rant-a-thon about evil democrats wanting gun control and blah blah blah and how he wished he’d been in the theater (!) because he would have taken the shooter down. I don’t know, I’m all for concealed carry for people that go through the training, but I hardly think the ideal shooting situation would be in a crowded, chaotic room filled with smoke. I finally had to block his updates because I got so angry reading them.

I do think it would be a good time for people to review what you SHOULD do in this type of situation…

@misspeanut:  Maybe we are looking at gun control all wrong and we should just FORCE people to start carrying guns.  That sounds safe.

@misspeanut:  Yeah. I fully believe in concealed carry AND I fully believe that there are situations where someone with a gun has successfully derailed a crime … but in this situation, you’d hope that even if someone DID have a gun, they wouldn’t just go firing into the smoke. The whole point of concealed carry permits is that people have to take a class to get one, and in that class they teach you about APPROPRIATE situations to pull your gun. Mass pandemonium and low to no visibility is not an appropriate situation.

The whole situation just confounds me. I was walking to lunch today and my office is right near a local theater. A crew from Fox News tried to stop me to get soundbites of my reaction to the crime. I declined to comment – I mean, really? You are standing outside of a movie theater in the middle of the day looking for people to spout off at the mouth? Give me a break…

@rach122:  Kinda the same thing but not really (saying that if he was on the plane, he would have stopped them). This just reminded of that.
