@Ms Mini: I agree.
DH & I have a couple of friends who do this CONSTANTLY. Knowing their situation, we think they are doing it just to “prove” to everyone that they are happy, committed, in-love, blah blah blah. It’s actually just very annoying. They live together, and we both feel like once you’re living together and see each other during the day you should just SAY it rather than write it on Facebook. They also post stuff like that on each other’s walls when they are on vacation, TOGETHER. We had a good laugh reading their conversations on each other’s walls over their summer vacation together that would go something like this:
“Tonight was so much fun! I’m so glad we’re on vacation together! I love you so much!”
“Yes, it was fun! I can’t wait to have more fun tomorrow. Love you too!”
A little weird if you ask me.

I am guilty of this SOMETIMES. I will post “I love you” after a birthday or anniversary on his wall but I never actually put it in my status. Every once in a great while I will post a love song lyric but that may happen a couple times a year if that. I like to keep my business private so I don’t post when we have fights or anything like that which I can’t stand when people blast their dirty laundry on FB then complain why everyone knows their business lol.

I’ve gotta agree with you. If you are living and/or married to someone and you’re constantly posting those things, you’re not just posting it for yourself, but you, him, and your entire friend-list. It’s Internet visual/semi-verbal affirmation.

Gahhhh it drives me nuts! I’ll occasionally post funny stories/bits of conversation from us and I do post photos when we manage to take a nice one. But that sort of stuff drives me crazy.
I said before in a thread, I was FB friends with a girl from high school who literally put “Love ya Kasey *muah muah*” after EVERY SINGLE POST, including the one about her grandma’s death. “Grandma died :'( Love ya Kasey *muah muah*” just doesn’t have the somber tone I think she was going for.

Right? Yes, we all have fights, some more than others, but don’t put your partner (or your relationship) on blast via FB/social media and get 3686413898 of your closest girlfriends to back you up. Idk, to each their own. That’s just me.

I might, for his birthday, but that’s about it. One of my cousins exchanges love notes on Facebook with her Fiance all of the time, and it drives me crazy, especially when she says things like “spending the night with my lover”. For some reason, the word “lover” drives me up the wall.

Sometimes I put a little heart <3 after my status updates… but they don’t usually have anything to do with my Fiance or being “in love.” That does get super annoying when I see it on other walls. I think the hearts are adorable, though. But, that’s just me. And, everybody knows I’m super girly… so whatever. I don’t care if it bothers anybody.

@Shosha1: HAHAHA all I can ever think of when I hear “lover” is those Will Ferrell/Rachel Dratch skits on SNL…

DH & I say it as a joke to each other in the same voices they use. I couldn’t stand hearing people use it for real. BAHAHA!
