Yeah, unfortunately it’s required. If you didn’t opt in, you got a little more time with the old profile, but they’re migrating everyone. 🙁

Luckily, it’s pretty easy to hide things from your timeline. It can just be time-consuming, depending on how avid a Facebook user you were!

I think they’re slowly forcing it on everyone. I’ve had this happen to a few friends of mine who didn’t want it and then woke up one day and they had it. When I signed up for pinterest, I used my facebook as my login, not realizing that I had to change to timeline to do this. So the next day, I was informed that I now had timeline! Lame.

Nope, once it’s there, it’s there unfortunately.

It’s really not that bad.  I changed mine ahead of time so I could hide some older posts before I published it.

I’ve been spared for now, but I keep getting that little banner at the top that says “Timeline is coming soon, get yours now”  I’m pretty sure once timeline happens, I’ll be deleting my account.  It is supposedly a massive pain to go back and change every single setting so the entire world doesn’t see your account.  FB is plain ridiculous.

Timeline doesn’t change your privacy settings, it just makes your old posts easier to dig up. It lets you really easily see what your profile would look like to the public or to a particular user, so you can keep your settings in check. The one thing that really stinks is that your cover photo is public no matter what (you can’t set it any other way), so keep that in mind!

@ViaMinorViator:  My privacy settings haven’t changed since switching to timeline.  The only posts that are public are things I have “liked.”

I actually kind of like timeline. I dont see the problem with it?

Most people fight change but I love it. Usually change is for the better! embrace it!

Just set aside an afternoon to go through and hide old things. It’s a bit of a pain, but on a lazy day, it was actually sort of fun to dig through it all and laugh at my college freshman self 🙂

I have been fortunate to not get it yet, but one of my friends that got it said if you use Google chrome there’s a way to get it back to normal.
