I had a mask done on my back to clear up some acne and redness.  It actually worked really well for me.

Mine wasn’t a full back facial thingie but it was just a mask they put on and covered it for a bit and then wiped it off.  I think for a back facial it would be like a real facial where they massage with a cleaner, steam your back, and probably put on a mask for a while.

Facials usually involve extractions — which I think means extracting crap from zits. So I assume they’d do that to your back? Not sure.

I never had an extraction for my facials, not sure if everyone does those.

I had a back-cial when I had a low back bridesmaid dress and it was great.  i don’t have really bad breakouts on my back, but i wanted it to look as good as possible.  She applied some warm compresses to open things up, followed by a mask to draw out impurities, then did a few extractions of clogged pores before they could turn into pimples – but extractions are always optional, just tell your person if you don’t want them. Then she applied a toner and moisturizer, gave me a little massage and sent me on my way.

It didn’t make me break out, but everyone reacts differently, so I would do a trial run and see how you do and then make a decision about doing one for your wedding.

I’ve got an appointment for a back-cial!  I felt totally weird asking about it, though.  “Um, can I get a facial…for my back?”   I’m so glad I’m not alone in this!  🙂

I get regular facials to help with problem skin (yes, at 28 I still get breakouts, yay! LOL)

Facials can be quite different, depending where you go, and what your skin needs are.

For my facials, first she cleans my skin, then steam for about 15 minutes (gentle steam), then applies 1 mask, then cleans, then another mask, then cleans, extractions if necessary (over time, extractions have become minimal) and then applies these lotions/creams/oils/etc. Its really beneficial for my skin, both for it’s general condition, and for acne.

She also does skin treatments for both back and the upper chest area, which are similar to the facial described above.

I had one backcial and one rackcial… it’s a facial for your chest, get it!  But my cousin is an esthetician and I got them for a steep discount.  I would get them again but I would rather put my money on my face since that is more of my problem zone.

Facials are always different – depends on the product line being used (each line has their own protocol), and depending on your skin type.

Basically it consists of cleansing, toning, steaming, exfoliation, massage, extractions if needed, masking, and moisturizing. Depending on the treatment they may skip or add steps, and sometimes there are 2 or 3 masks….

I loooooove facials. Gonna have one on Saturday 😀

I’ve only done one facial, but I didn’t really love it.  I’m not sure all that was involved, though I know they did extractions, steaming, massage, and moisturizing.  I didn’t love it and whatever the moisturizer was, I hated that.  I felt wicked oily and gross afterwards and I didn’t notice a difference with my skin.

What is an extraction exactly? or rather, how is it done?
