@Masala: I hate filling FAFSA out. With a passion I can’t even describe.

Oh how I hated filling out that form every year. Especially when I had to put my parents info down when I had been living on my own for a year and completely supporting myself.

The best part of FAFSA is paying off your loans and never borrowing again. My BA and MA are completely paid for. EFF off FAFSA!!!!!

My ex bf came from very rich parents who disowned him. His FAFSA was unreal. It expected his parents to put over 200k each year towards his tuition. 200k?!

He ended up having to work 60 hours a week to afford tuition because he couldn’t ever get any loans. Parent information shouldn’t even be allowed…

Ugh I hate it! I’m 24 years old and this us the first time I’ve ever gotten to file on my own and what a huge difference it makes! My estimated family contribution last year was $63,000 hence why all my loans are private loans 🙁 it really screwed me in the long run cause my parents didn’t pay for my college. After all is said on done I’ll havexabout 50k in student loans for 5 years if school resulting in a bachelors. It kinda makes me sick to think about but it was an investment in myself and luckily Fiance had no student debt

I HATE THAT DAMN EFC!!!!!!!!!  My dad has been unemployed for over 3 years and their savings have depleted… he’s drawing from his 401k and my mom makes a minimal salary… Somehow my EFC is $15,000… WTF?!?!?!

I hate that I’m still considered a dependent even though I haven’t lived at home for three years and my parents don’t financially support me.

At least next year, I will be married, so I will officially not be considered a dependent anymore– I won’t have to be on my dad’s case to get his taxes done in time for the FAFSA, yay!

@JenniMichele: Agreed… I haven’t lived at home or been supported by my parents for almost two years now… stupid.

In the past, FAFSA screwed me and I had to take out private loans after my father passed away b/c FAFSA refused to give me anymore money. I graduated with a BA and teaching license and 60k in debt.

Now that I’m in grad school, it’s a breeze. This year, it took me 30 minutes to fill that sucker out (thanks to their quick link to the IRS that pulls your tax info).
