I’ve tried the cheapie OPKs the past few cycles, and haven’t gotten so much as a squinter on them. I’m on CD17 now, and nothing the past few days. I tested this afternoon and I have a faint but very visible line. However, my urine was very diluted (almost clear – good hydrating at least!!). I know a positive is meant to be blazing, but since I seem to get stark white tests as my baseline and my wee was so clear – should I count this as an LH surge???

No, I wouldn’t. Could you possibly switch to digital and see if you can get a positive on those?

thanks. I was using the CB dual hormone from 9-14, but ran out of sticks and forgot to buy more! I had 4 days of flashing smileys from days 11-14, and I’ve just been using the cheapie since. We might have another go at BD tonight and just hope my temp rises tomorrow!
I used the CB digital last month, got an empty circle, two flashing smileys and solid, and stark white cheapie OPKs the whole time!

How many times a day are you testing? I had to test twice a day to catch my surge.
Unfortunately the line does have to be as dark as the control line to count as positive, though if it’s nearly as dark, it can indicate you’re coming up to your surge. A faint but visible line on an OPK is a negative (eg it could just capturing natural fluctuations in your LH levels).

thanks for that. I’ve been testing twice a day, this is the first time I’ve had anything even resembling a line. I do wonder if it’s because of the dilute urine and it would’ve been darker? I think we’ll BD tonight just in case!!

Maybe you tests are defective? I think you should always have a line. If there is no line I think it even says on the package that it’s an invalid test.

how dark is the control line? It doesn’t sound positive to me.

Are you sure you don’t have a defective batch of tests? I’ve always had at least a faint line on OPKs.

Thanks everyone, maybe they are dodgy tests? The little picture on the back shows a negative test as having either no test line or a faint line, so I figured having no test line was okay. Might stock up on CB digital again next month, so expensive, but so easy to use!

Get the digital tests. Seriously love them and they’re so easy to use.
