The bakery I wanted to use charges $6. I think it’s slightly ridiculous but she’s amazing at what she does. I havent decided if Im going with her or not. I would love to hear what others paid as well!

I think ours was like $3.50 or maybe $4. $5.50 seems a bit high, I would definitely get quotes from other bakeries.

It depends entirely on what the design you’ve chosen is, how many flavors, delivery, cake stand etc etc. It’s almost impossible to tell from the information given what you’re actually getting for the price. A lot of the cost is wrapped up in the decoration!

I agree with crayfish.  $5.50 seems standard for fondant or a “specialty” cake flavor or filling.

$5.50 is standard in our area.  I went with a “discount” baker who was $3/slice (b/c I wanted a big cake — so it fed 150 even though we only needed to feed 100) and the cake was horrible and made me cry.  I regret not going with the $4.50 to $6 bakers.

I think it’s hard to say if this is fair as 1) prices vary based on geography and 2) the design can have a huge impact (tons of sugar flowers vs none). For example, some I’ve seen in magazines and local publications were going for like $12/slice, which would make yours an exceptional deal assuming the quality/look are similar.

I would get quotes from other bakeries in the area as that will be a better indicator of “fairness”.
