Hello fellow bees!
This is my first post so please excuse any ‘newbie’ qualities of my posting. 🙂
I was just proposed to less than a month ago down in WDW in Cinderella’s Castle. It was very romantic, down on one knee, my ring brought out on a platter full of roses and in Cinderella’s slipper, they set off fireworks just for us, we had a special Cinderella dessert. I couldn’t have asked for anything more because I’m such a Disney fan. Now for the good stuff… the wedding planning!!
We don’t have an official date yet, but since I was originally going to have a cherry blossom themed wedding which means I’d HAVE to have the wedding late April or early May so I’d have the best opportunity to have the blossoms… It’s going to be 2014. I had everything down to a T for this theme for years since my grandmother passed away. However, I found this venue in Boston called “Fairmont Copley Plaza” and the Oval Room looks SO much like Beauty and the Beast’s ballrooom. So then my themed change (IF I can definitely book this venue). Since I now have no idea on any decor, invitation, etc… I need your help! I found this really cute centerpiece idea. It’s a light pink rose (staying with my original colors too!) in a bud vase, on top of a book, but underneath a glass dome top with candles all around it. That’d be on most tables and some tables would be a intricate candleabra (to be like Lumier).
… This is about as far as I’ve gotten and I can’t seem to decide on anything else. I don’t want it to seem too Disne cheesy so I figured a Fairytale theme would be right along the same lines as beauty and the beast. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Invitations, Favors, Card Holders, Candy bar, etc. I’m so lost!! 🙁
I did have some ideas to ask my bridesmaids to be my bridesmaids. It’s ordered, I just have to wait for them to come! I ordered them each a personalized hanger with their name on it for their bridesmaids dresses, I bought them each the same simple cubic zirconia bracelet to wear on the day of the wedding. I can’t wait to ask! I’m trying to think of some additional little gifts to ask my Best friend to be my Maid Of Honor and my sister to be my Matron of Honor… any cute ideas for that one either? I saw the idea of “item of the month club” and I liked it, but they’re expensive so I was thinking of doing my own personalized shipments of things. I still want an initial gift for asking them and I can’t think of one though.

LOVE it! Beauty and the Beast is by far my FAVORITE movie ever. As a kid I remember my parents suprising me with a whole bedroom featuring B&B (lamps, blankets, wall paper, rugs, you name it!).

The Fairmont Copley Plaxa is a beautiful hotel (as are most Fairmonts) but it’s very expensive. A random Saturday night in April 2013 is $379 for the most basic room. The best you will negotiate for a block is about 25% off. This may be a financial burden to your guests so I’d consider booking a second, more budget-friendly room block nearby. That way, guests who choose to spend a lot can have the convenience of sleeping in the same hotel as the reception, but guests with a smaller budget can stay nearby. You’ll also heed a generous catering budget as Fairmont catering is in the higher brackets, and with onsite catering, it’s not likely they will let you bring in an outside caterer.
Try to build out the overall fairy tale theme to take attention away from the specific of Beauty and the Beast; obviously, as the bride, you’re the Beauty, but it could be seen by some as if your fiancé then must be considered The Beast— and I know I’d kick anyone who made that joke about my DH!

@Janaic88: I know! I loved that movie growing up. I was really torn between that and the little mermaid and I can’t find an image at the moment, but the oval room also has this big shell in it (kind of like the one Ariel is SUPPOSED to come out of in the concert under the sea) that the DJ/Band usually sits ini front of. Here’s a picture of the room!!

@fishbone: I completely agree about the beast sentiment! I do not want that so I was thinking fairytale theme, but I justs can’t think of any additional decor, cake topper, or invitations.
I definitely want to look into a seperate block at another hotel, because Copley Plaza is far too expensive, but luckily for us we get a complimentary suite. 🙂
Luckily for us my dad is paying for most of it so I don’t have to worry about cost TOO much, but I definitely still need to stay mindful and say i want everything.

Just stopping in to say that I’m jealous of your theme…

And I’m drooling over that centerpiece.

I am actually wanting to do the same look for our wedding as well. Beauty and the Beast was one of my fiance and I’s dates when we were together. The bell jars themselves are pricey from what I have found and I have been looking for a bride getting married in my year to split the cost of the bell jars that way it is cheaper on the both of us. Let me know what you think and I can send you my information. Look forward to hearing from you! Yay for Beauty and the Beast centerpieces.

First off, love the theme, and the venue is gorgeous and will truly fit if you decide to go with them.
First set your budget! Then think of your colors – pinks and reds, cream, and gold would be elegant.
The jars are quite exoensive BUT at least in this one you get TWO:
Maybe you can alternate tables others can have candelabras similar to these:
As for as invitations something that includes roses, and ornate borders, and fancy script. Like these from David’s Bridal (they have pink and red too)
Cake – Ornate details
Think of cute small details that can represent your theme – For example you know those Mr. & Mrs. Signs on the back of chairs. How about Madame and Monsieur.

Wooo I am having the same theme but we are doing a deep red and champagne for our colors! For favors I am doing wood roses. My BMs are walking down the aisle with mirrors instead of flowers! I am having the ring bearer carry our rings in a book. The table place cards are going to be bookmarks. Our guest book is going to be a teapot that we are having everyone write on then getting it fired so the ink will stay.
