    @tootie664: I had thought about it but it was more expensive to do a fake cake than have a 2 tier and do sheet cakes

    @glorfin: Thats rude. I’m sorry but are you going to be upset if you get sheet cake because thats what they can afford or no cake because they thought doing a fake cake was rude so you get nothing

    Kendall, it was a joke.

    But, if you want a semi-serious answer, if you are going to have sheet cake I’m fine with that, why try to fake something else.  If you are going to serve me chicken I’m fine with that, but don’t show me a cow (or a picture of beef) before you do it.

    @glorfin: That is kinda funny.

    @Mrs.Vowrenewal: I’m totally for budget… but I think that if a couple was going to do sheet cake then their cake should be more for cutting and not so much for looks… I’m sure a fake cake is still costly.

    @tootie664: We did a teir for cutting and then had cupcakes for the guests =D

    @glorfin: I’m showing a 2 tier cake and then serving sheet cake.

    Honestly, I find fake cakes to be a little silly.

    I am doing a fake cake and I LOVE the idea! We are having 50 guests and it would be crazy for us to have a 7 tiered cake (like I want). The bottom tier will be real and that is also what we will be cutting into. We will also have the option of our guests picking an alternitive to cake for their dessert. I dont think its silly at all. We fake tan, we get fake nails, hair extensions, squeeze and prod our bodies into a dress… but a fake cake is silly? I think not. It is not that big of a deal, and no.. its not cheap. I would rather get a fake and have little to no waste than get a real one the way I want it, pay way more (hundreds) and have so much wasted at the end of the night.

    The fake cakes are actually quite expensive if you really think about. Because they still have to put the icing on them and decorate them as usual. Some people make a mixed cake which has a few fake tiers and few real tiers. But its nearly the same price to just have all real cake and some sheet cake in the back

    Could I use my stacked “Card Box” as my wedding cake? It already looks like one…kind of.

    I’ve seen this, and its really awesome, but its usually not any less, if anything seems more expensive.

    We have a cake that comes with our venue package and not only is it amazing but its a CARROT CAKE! YUM!! Knowing not everyone loves Carrot Cake, we will be serving a “marble” sheet cake from the back!

    I never considered a fake cake, but did price them when I met with bakers. They would have cost just as much, and most times more. We only priced out enough for 100ish people with the extra layer to keep. If you are having a lot of people, it may make sense to have the fake cake with a sheet cake in the kitchen, maybe.

    Fiance and I are having a top tier that is real for us to cut and then either having the other tiers fake and sheet cake in the back to serve to guests, or having cupcakes for the guests.

    Fake tiers with sheet cake for guests is actually cheaper and no one can tell the difference.  Your cake place can even make the sheet cakes the same flavor as your top tier.

    I think more couples than you’d believe do this.  Sheet cakes can feed more guests than tiers can so you save money.  We are having between 350-400 guests and if we got real tiers we’d have to get like a 5-6 tier cake.
