Nope, that’s not strange at all, in my opinion! I say go for it!

No, not strange, but i’d rather wait one little month for the real one! otherwise you’ll be explaining yourself a lot with the “this isn’ tthe real one” story

I would take a roadtrip and go visit her 🙂

If you’re excited about telling and showing people, I wouldn’t because then you would have to explain everytime.  I know lots of people that were engaged but didn’t get the ring for a while because it was being specially made.

Reading threads on here I hear that isn’t that uncommon.  Many bees even have stunt rings for events that could hurt their engagemant or wedding band

Nope I don’t think it is strange.  In fact that would let him do the asking when he wants and totally surprise you!

This is so personal and I don’t think either of your options is wrong … it is just so up to you that you should choose what to do from your heart.

I can tell you … the engagement ring becomes so important and symbolic that even if it is real or fake .. it will be so special to you!

I would wait! I waited. I would never take back waiting and replace my ring with anything ever!!!!!!! If it were me, I would wait for the special ring that you will have forever.

Dear Fiance and I live across the country from my parents, who had the family diamonds.  They mailed them to us (insured) and we designed the ring here.  Shouldn’t be a problem for your parents to mail them, as long as they’re insured!

Darling Husband proposed to me with a blue topaz ring, and then proposed again when he got the diamond ring.  I wore the first ring as my “something blue.”  Basically, I don’t think it’s odd at all, but if you don’t want questions, maybe you should consider a non-traditional ring at first instead of an imitation diamond ring.

I say go there and get it!!  she would love the visit i’m sure.  my friend  just went through same thing.  her grandmas diamond was 4 hrs away… and her boyfriend went and picked it up with her…they went and designed the ring together.  it made it very special to her that it was her grandmas, and that they were together when it was made!  it was something special that they got to do with eachother and made it worth the wait.

My fella got me a “Cracker Jack” ring since he totally surprised me with the engagement.  I had no clue it was coming, and he knows that I am very tough on jewelry and that I would want to have input on the design of the “official” ring (ie. nothing I would accidently smush or break accidently in my clumsiness).  He got me a claddaugh ring from Target for the proposal, even though we have my offical ring now, that first ring is very special to me too.
