You could get silks or gels rather than acrylics. They are more expensive but do less damage to the nails.

Or you can get a gel manicure – they go right on top of the real nail.

I recommend you asking about “Prescription” nails. This is the route I plan to take next week. I too LOVE when my nails get long… unfortunately I made a huge mistake by getting a manicure @ the “wrong” place and had my nails ruined. I’m back to the tech who’s been helping me grow them out with “Axxiom” (OPI salon product). Since my nails haven’t gotten to the length I hoped for, she recommended this as the safest, least damaging option. She said they are basically “Press On” nails and last about 2 weeks. NOT like what you find @ Walgreens or Target. I HOPE this goes as she’s describing. … First time I hear about these “Prescription Nails”.. good luck!
