(Closed) fake ring…

If you are going somewhere where a ring could get stolen off your hand, I wouldn’t take any ring or I would wear a really simple, plain band.  I mean, sure, if you get mugged wearing a flashy fake ring, you will only be out a fake ring.  But is it really worth risking the experience of being mugged?

If you are just worried about it getting picked up in the hotel room or at the beach, then I don’t see why not.

Honestly, when we traveled to Europe, we notcied that nobody wore an engagement ring.  Nobody.  Like PP said, just wear a simple band.  You’ll fit and and not worry about losing it.

Insurance? I’m just going to wear mine…and if something happens to it, something happens. I can’t be afraid to wear it. It fits too tight to fall off and i get it checked often. If someone steals it, well, I try not to go to places that are that dangerous! I would definitely leave it somewhere safe if i was traveling somewhere where i’d be in danger. Most people didn’t seem to wear their stuff on their honeymoon, so even if you just bought a silver band to wear for like $20, that’d be plenty.

By The Way, if you’re worried about someone stealing it from you–how does a fake set help? They may not know it’s fake at first. It may be best to go simple/incognito

I’ve always done something like this.  My old ring (from my prior marriage) was a nice sized solitaire and I just used to flip it around with the solitaire facing into the palm of my hand.  That way when I’d walk to and from my car in parking lots nobody saw it.  If people saw any ring on my hand, it simply looked like a simple band.  They couldn’t see the solitaire or the other diamonds that way.

It was over 2 carats and I never worried once about wearing it.  Never was scared and never had any problems with being worried it would be stolen.

And it was insured.  That pretty much was the main factor.

I had thought about getting a ‘stunt-double’ ring to wear when I go to the hospital for nursing school. I’ve heard so many horror stories about nurses whose rings come off and get thrown away inside gloves. I’ve also heard that the alcohol foam we use (literally HUNDREDS of times in a 12 hour shift) is bad for the diamonds and the metal day after day…
Alas, I cant find a fake this is made of a decent metal (I cant wear silver), is in my price range, and looks anything at all like my ring. I had considered getting just a plain band to wear, but since I’m not married yet, I didnt think that would be appropriate.
I’ve just been sucking it up and dealing with feeling ‘naked’ while I’m at the hospital…
