Ok so I’m getting married in October of 2012 and I thought I had is all figured out with burnt orange/yellow/brown but I saw burgundy and now I’m leaning towards that! A couple of issues, Fiance likes the burnt orange better for the dresses and says burgundy isn’t fall and it’s purple which apparently he hates, and I don’t know what color goes with it! Help please!!!

Burgundy is deep red and is definitely a fall color. With that in mind, no two designers (of anything, not just dresses) have the same color names for the same shades or the same shades for similar color names. Go to a local hardware store or Walmart and find the shade of burgundy you like (ignore the names that are listed entirely) in the paint chips and use that as your inspiration. Plus, you can take it with you wherever you need to show off color swatches.
Orange and yellow are very hard to pull off since they don’t go with most skin tones.

@Ember78: I agree and will take that into consideration as well! Thank you!!!

I’m getting Married in October and I’m having David’s Apple Red as our bridesmaids dress color. It’s fall but still fun. You may want to browse the selection of bridesmaids colors (and dresses) and see what you like. You may actually end up liking one that you didn’t in the first place : )

Online tools that are helpful:
http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/explore-colors/color-selector/index.html Sangria Red under ‘Vibrant Reds’ is the closest to burgundy and nothing in the purple section even comes close
http://www.dessy.com/accessories/stretch-charmeuse-swatch/ Valentine is burgundy and not purple at all.
http://jordanfashions.com/ShowSwatches.aspx?dressid=1378 – Cherry and Cranberry fit your criteria and again are not purple.

You could do a dark orange that’s almost a red. Something like this:
I agree that a lot of the lighter/brighter oranges don’t look well on lighter skin tones.

As far as skin tones, it isn’t light vs dark at all. It’s warm vs cool. You can have two people who are both fair skinned, but one is warm toned (looks best in golds and warm colors: orange-based red, orange, yellow) and the other is cool toned (looks best in silvers and blue, purple, blue-based red, teal). Then there are the neutral colors that either can wear: black and white. But the cool toned person can’t wear the warm colors without looking washed out, and vice versa for the warm toned person with cool colors. There is no shade of a warm color (orange that a cool toned person will look flattering in.

@Lauren10.8.11: that’s the colour of my BM’s dresses, we’re getting them at DB as well.
@FutureMrs86: I’m agreeing with what pp are saying about the paint swap colour, that will be helpful to you. I started off with that and ended up with the Apple Red from DB, my girls loved that color and so do Fiance and I.

I love the dresses that are burnt orange, can you please post where you got those

My girls wore Alfred Angelo’s burnt orange. They ranged from ghostly pale to mildly tan and I thought the color looked great on everyone…ll

definitely take into account what colours will look good on your BMs. you want them to look good in the pictures too.
my cousin got married a few years ago & had a fall theme. each bridemaid wore a different fall colour. brown, orange, yellow and i think like a burgandy rust colour.

i changed my fall themed wedding of 2011 to spring 2013. This left me with 5 persimion davids bridal bridesmaid dresses. this is a picture of the dress but it is persimion orange not blue.
If you go onto the davids bridal website you can see this dress in orange. They are gorgeous dresses. They have never been worn or altered. They still have the tags on them. This dress also looks great on plus size ladies. It flows straight to the floor and does not hug curvy women. This is a perfect option for wide or larger shaped women.
I know 3 of my girls were size 8 or maybe a 6
my sisters dress is a 22 or 24. it was too big for her
the other bridesmaid dress is up in the air. Not sure if she still has it. If so it was a 16 or 18 size.
These dresses were $155 when they bought them and are currently selling for $129.
I can probably get them to sell for nothing less than $100. I also have tons of fall decor that I am selling as well. I will post pictures of them soon. I really need to get rid of these things so I can start buying spring decor.
If interested in any items please email at [email protected] I check this email 3-4 times a week. I don’t get to visit this site too often due to school and having a 19 month old. That is the quickest response method.
