These boots are my favorite thing to wear in the fall!

I’m pretty clueless about style and fashion. That said, I love “fall fashion!” I wear: skinny jeans with boots, cardigans or long, chunky sweaters with a simple tee or tank underneath,  dresses/skirts with tights and – you guessed it – boots again! This year I’m going to attempt to add scarves.

I live in pashminas in the cooler months. I use them to create pops of colour, I just purchased a leopard print one today, I love it.

I also like layering, so I love chunky knit sweaters and blazers in neutral colours. Skinny jeans are great for fall boots, but I also love a good trouser jean to wear with a nice pump or boot. I also love all the fall colours. I like the oranges, browns, dark green and plum. I stick with the jewel tones because of my skin tone and hair colour, but having fun with colour is a great way to kick a fashion rut.

Fashion is fun!! Play around with it, and just make sure to buy pieces that you can incorporate with the rest of your closet.

Personally, I love wearing a dress with leggings and boots or flats. I end up looking put together but still really comfy.

where do you all get your fall dresses? I can never find them in-store!

I love all the plum that I see – it’s such a great color on everybody. And I want a brocade dress, but I’m not sure how to pull that off for work 🙂

OK: bear with me because I have my list ready to go!

#1: Fall Blazer: this is definitely something I need for work and also to wear out with skinny jeans + heels. I have a couple, but getting some fun colors is what I am searching for:

#2: Hats/Scarves/Layering Materials:

I have so, so many scarves, but I want to add some lightweight cardigans, maybe a hat or two and an updated scarf to the mix of what I already have and LAYER, layer, layer!

#3: Denim Jacket/Shirts

Yes- I know it is not 1993, but I have a newfound obsession with denim jackets and button up shirts. I like the idea of mixing them with colorful bottoms or adding a bright scarf for fall:

#4: Chunky Sweaters

I love to wear these with tights or skinny jeans, but I also like the idea of finding one like on the model and wearing it with a button up or solid fitted t-shirt and simple necklace

#5: Bootcut Jeans

I know that skinnt jeans are uber popular in the fall due to tucking them into cute boots BUT, I also have a pretty impressive cowboy boot collection so I like to show those off and actually wear them A LOT during the fall/winter months.

#6: Skirt + Tights combo:

I have to dress business casual some days for work, so I like to keep my summer skirts an option and add tights. I want to get some grey/charcoal tights to add in with my brown and black. Maybe even a new lace skirt so I can carry that into Spring

ETA: if you’re looking for really cute and comfy sweaters, Express had  them on sale this past weekend for $29.99 and this is one of the ones I got– it is very comfy with a hint of shimmer in the thread :

@celi1327:  yes those are definitely more classic pieces and approaches and may be good starter points! My personal style is pretty trendy, so I do accessorize a lot on a day to day basis or wear a lot of in season items! Express, Buckle and Forever 2 are where most of my clothes come from– I am a fairly  too regular shopper! haha

Okay, I just got a business casual job.  I swear by skinny jeans and leggings in the fall.  Now that I can’t wear either to work, i’m totally clueless as to what to wear with my long chunky sweater dresses.  A lot of them are too short for tights.

Any ideas?

@KateByDesign:  what about adding them with some very skinny pants? I found these with white skinny pants, but possibly even a charcoal or khaki pant to dress it up more than jeans?

You could still wear with boots, cute flats or heels to dress it up a little

-scarves, and lots of them. They will look nice with a dress, with a tank, with a tee!

-tall boots – a good pair for versatility (wear over jeans, with a skirt, with a dress, with leggings)

-cardigans – also very versatile – pair with dresses, skirts, jeans, pants
