not done it, but sounds like a great idea….I love soup!

I would take advantage of the fall vegetables – maybe an apple parsnip soup…or a root vegetable stew.  I think butternut squash is too typical for this type of event – be creative!

Or maybe add an international flavor with a thai coconut soup  – very warming!

I would consider three soups – one with a meat (chicken or beef probably), one vegetable and one creamy.  Then lots of people can be happy!  More than three might be overwhelming.

A soup bar sounds heavenly! Plus it fits the vibe you mentioned. Is soup the only thing you will be serving? If so, then then you can have as many as you want. Make sure to have bread and crackers in addition.

Some ideas:

German Sausage Chowder

Chicken Noodle

Baked Potato

Broccoli Cheddar

Chicken Tortilla

Chocolate soup for dessert?

yum, this sounds awesome for a fall wedding in that setting. i don’t love italian wedding soup myself but still think it would be a cute option. butternut squash soup would be a good vegetarian option, or a hearty vegetarian (or meat) chili. i seriously love soup and could go on and on with good options…anything from good old fashioned tomato soup, to lobster bisque or clam chowder. i almost wish it wasn’t 85 degrees today in new york, or i’d be making soup for lunch!

@ajcanterbury, the cotton candy station sounds like fun, even for the adults!

Italian wedding soup is an acquired taste. Some people love it and others don’t. Serve whatever you feel your guests will enjoy.

Chilled fruit soups may work too.

I second tortilla and baked potato.  I also like corn chowder, I’ve had a jalapeno bacon version that was tasty.  And lastly, a roasted roasted carrot pablano soup.

These are really popular at gatherings I’ve attended.  Chicken tortilla, baked potato, broccoli cheese and chicken noodle go really fast.  They seem basic, but people find them comforting.  I love a good butternut squash or tomato basil soup.

My mom so frowned upon this idea. I love soup and really wanted a soup bar too! I hope you do it!

And my vote is for one to be the butternut squash soup! So fall!!!

That sounds amazing!  I vote for tomato soup, french onion soup, and roasted garlic soup.
