- Wedding: October 2011
Fiance and I are having a fall themed wedding next October in The Adirondacks. The colors outside are incredible (yellows, oranges, reds, purples) so those are our inspiration. The guys are going to be wearing khakis and navy blue blazers and the girls will be wearing tea length burnt orange dresses. I am looking for some inspiration on a few elements of the wedding.
Card Box – I always pictured myself having the 3 tiered card box with all the bells and whistles but that won’t really go with our theme (and I’m kind of over it anyways after seeing it at wayy to many weddings). Any ideas? I would like something that is secure (heard too many stories of theft at weddings).
Isle Decor – Currently our wedding is scheduled to be held outside in a gazebo overlooking a lake. I’ve never been a huge fan of gazebos so I am hoping to be able to talk to my venue into letting us just set up on an area of the lawn, still overlooking the lake. I’m not going to need too much since the leaves alone will be spectacular but I would still like something to decorate the isles with. We are on a budget so I would like to keep the ceremony decor under $100.
Place Cards/Seating Chart – We dont necessarily have to have assigned seats but I do want to control what table everyone is at. I am not inspired at all by standard folded place cards. Any suggestions for some place card ideas that will work with my theme?
Favors – Until we decided to shift gears and go with the fall theme we were planning on having a dessert bar. I had recruited Future Mother-In-Law, Future Sister-In-Law and Maid/Matron of Honor to help me make all sorts of baked goodies in the weeks prior. Now with my fall theme I am thinking about doing mini apple pies instead. I havent decided if we should make them ourselves or buy them yet but I plan to look into that in the next few weeks. I was thinking that the pies, packaged in a small window boxes and tied with burnt orange ribbon would be cute. We would make thank you labels with instructions on how to heat the pie. What do you think? If you were a guest at our wedding, would you like the favor? I feel like it screams fall in The Adirondacks!
Thanks for the suggestions bees!
