Hi ladies –
I’m shooting for a fall wedding – October hopfully. I am tyring to figure out the colors that I want. I think a deep purple, burnt orange and gold highlights look pretty good together.
However, I’ve been to 5 weddings in the past 2 years, and they all used purple as the main color! I think it looks really good, but I don’t want to be just like everyone else. I want to explore other options before I pick a solid theme. As I said, I like the color combination stated above, but I am willing to ditch that entirely if something else more unique (yet still fall/rusticy) comes along.
Any suggestions from other fall brides?
(PS – sorry if this might not be in the right category – wasn’t sure which one to post this to)

Megbee617: Purple is so popular nowadays!!!
I’m doing a fall wedding and we’ve decided to use shades of rust and gray as the main colors with cream, and bronze accents. I know that sounds a little crazy, but the colors actually look really beautiful together. 🙂

We are doing purple (lol) & champagne, but I also think navy & gold look awesome together! Or how about emerald green? That’d be fun.

we are doing a deep peacock blue (the david’s bridal peacock color), white, black and silver. Then a few pops of orange and hot pink. the venues we have are neutral colors with a lot of wood. I think it balances out.

Navy and orange looks lovely…also red and creme is different but possibly a little wintery. Burgandy, orange, and yellow – like the leaves!!

For fall I love the idea of 1 deep color and then 2 earthy or neutral tones and 1 bright one. I think what you described fits that perfectly. Go with what you love, it doesn’t matter who else used the same!

Megbee617: It’s cliche, but our main colors are brown and orange with pops or burgundy and beige.
Also if you haven’t set a date yet, ask your venue for their prices the first week of November. We found in New Jersey they were notably cheaper b/c it was “out of season”. We only bumped it up by 1 week and saved sever hundred dollars!

Are you familiar with http://www.theperfectpalette.com or http://www.design-seeds.com ? Both are websites that help you pick color palettes.
There are many shades of purple, so no two weddings have to be alike if you do want to include purple.

I was gonna say, why not replace the purple with burgundy? I know it’s a more “traditional” fall color scheme but it looks really nice. I know quite a few people who opted for purple as well, which is one reason I didn’t choose it.

Megbee617: We did gold and navy for our fall wedding! Something like these:
My original idea was to add soft touches of light pink but we went with cream/ivory bc Darling Husband vetoed pink in the wedding.

Megbee617: Great minds think alike. I’m getting married in October and my colors are burnt orange and purple with accents of metallics (gold, champagne, silver, bronze). Due to the popularity of purple, however, my main color is orange. My bridesmaid will wear burnt orange dresses with purple floral bouquets. My decor will be mostly exotic orange flowers with eggplant table clothes. It’s harder to find burnt orange invitations, so ours are ecru with purple writing and gold accents. My cake is ivory and gold.
I can’t wait to see it all put together, but I think it’s going to look fabulous!
