@katebluestone:  I’m not that worried because my husband and I are vaccinated. It was definitely anxiety provoking before we both had the vaccine! He had pneumonia last summer (not Covid), and I really didn’t want to risk him getting sick.

I don’t understand why this website is getting the editor of ANOTHER website to make these “posts”? Wouldn’t that just drive traffic over to the other website (heh, assuming that this editor were in any way interesting and didn’t write like a script)? Doesn’t WB have an executive editor who can answer these questions? Are WB and The Knot owned by the same parent company or something?

I wonder why the duplicate of this thread, with all the posts including the advertisement above , keeps on, keeping level.  I mean usually if there is a duplicate then the second one peters out as soon as people recognise it. And the mods delete it.

@unicornwolf:  Following your state guidelines as if everything you are PERMITTED to do is a good idea is….the height of silliness. You are PERMITTED to drink bleach. It isn’t illegal. But boy is it a silly idea. So I agree with you that there will be many people who will be silly and do what they are PERMITTED to do instead of what is wise. But I think they are still worth snarking on.

My mask fashion is KN95 if I have to go inside anywhere, and a wide variety of colorful cloth ones if I’m very near people outside, chosen to be cheerful. I’ve got some paper surgical numbers in the car in case I forget one. If I’m double masking, I try to pick one I think will bring a smile as my cover, or maybe one that matches my outfit. I think there could be some great wedding-oriented ones with sparkly straps.

@an0nb33:  As KateBlueStone said– herd immunity is 70% (really closer to 85 or 90 if you want to be careful in your models) OF THE TOTAL POPULATION. We are nowhere near that. Children can’t even get vaccinated if they are under twelve. That is a HUGE percentage of the population. And herd immunity rates might be even higher due to the spread of the Delta variant which is more communicable and for which vaccinated folks seem to carry more capacity for transmission if they get a breakthrough case.

Thanks unvaccinated anti-maskers who made possible sufficient spread to make a variant possible. GAH!

@personaperson:

The variants are coming from the third world, where less people have access to vaccines to and social distancing isn’t possible just for the sake of getting through everyday life. Even after the US is at 70% vaccinated we will still be dealing with variants. My hope is that thete will be more of an effort to reach those places who do nit have access to vaccines.

@personaperson:  So it’s silly to follow what your state’s health authority is telling you is safe? My Dem-run state currently doesn’t have any restrictions, and my area is at 60% vaccinated, which will increase once kids are able to get the vaccine. Go ahead and snark on people who are going to get on with their lives when their health authorities tell them they can. What’s silly is comparing people who folliw the guidelines they are given to drinking bleach.

@unicornwolf:  lol, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn if you think that every state health authority can be trusted to tell you what’s safe.  We haven’t had a mask mandate or any closures in my state for over a year now.  Blindly following the rules in some of these places, which often are contrary to CDC guidance, is not just silly, it’s stupid.
