I was going to say the dress 1 looks better with you pulling it tight so alter it and keep the zipper. But then I saw dress 2 and honestly its stunning! Why not wear dress 2 for the day and ceremony and dress1 after food for the dancing part (if youre having a dancing part). Dress1 is floaty and might dance better and that way you can still wear both. If you have to pick between dresses I would go with Dress2!

finally, not everyone hates dress 1! I feel a spark of hope lol, that maybe it’s still worth wearing for a photoshoot. Maybe just an upper body type shot
I don’t actually know what designer dress 1 is, there is no name label and the bridal outlet said they cut them off. The shop has called it Sara in colour Pink (actually light blush) – I also googled around but couldn’t find the dress online. The retail price is supposedly £700 (I didn’t pay that much).
It’s very similar to some Essense of australia and Stella york dresses though, they both have blush lace applique on tulle A line dresses.

dw4518 : dress 2 looks amazing for your figure. I think they both look nice on you tho. I think a cinched waist would help dress if you’re leaning more towards it for cost. And also remember you are going to be completely glammed up on your wedding day so the look and feel is going to be much different. You will feel beautiful and probably won’t dilike the dress with the accessories, hair, and make up done. Good luck!

Dress #2 is so much more flattering to your figure.

dw4518 : Have you tried a slip/petticoat type thing underneath dress 1? Maybe giving it slightly more volume in the skirt would help? I do agree that cinching in the waist helps.

dw4518 : That might be why I like it. My dress is a EOA in a blush color. I think it would be lovely for a photoshoot. even full body.

ladylikekatie : I was thinking of getting a petticoat, but then it would make the short hem worse. If just doing a photoshoot though I think I could sew on some lace to the bottom myself to make it look longer haha. That sounds like a crazy idea though!
musicluvr325 : I love EOA dresses. I saw pictures of them online and then when I saw this dress in the shop I just had to have it. I think in hindsight I should have paid a bit more and gotten an EOA, I’m sure they don’t have weird cuts!

You look stunning in dress #2! I think it is just more flattering. If I may ask, what designer and style number is that dress?
It’s a lilian west dress (will check if I can find a style number when I get home) and I’m not sure if they sell outside the UK? this was a sample so probably out of season as well (cost £50!), but I think the design is quite generic with the lace bodice and tulle skirt

I love your first dress and I think you should wear it. It’s beautiful than the first one. You look better in the first one. But it’s your day, wear what you want.

absforthenguyen : so I’ve just checked the tag and apparently it’s a Lilian west 6315. I looked on google and see that there is supposed to be a lace bit at the top lol, so I’m very confused, as the rest of the dress looks identical. Maybe that is why I got it so cheap then, it’s not really a sample as too small so I guess someone ordered it, altered it then didn’t want it anymore
brokeandinlove92 : I do also think that judging the dress alone, the first dress is prettier! with all that lace applique and beaded waist. I just wish it fit me better. I have decided to go ahead and get the waist taken in at the sides (so I can keep the pretty buttons) and possibly add some lace trim to increase the length. I really just want to make it work for me, even if I am not wearing it on the day.
I have listed it for sale at £200 and so far only page views, so probably not worth the hassle to sell it. I have toyed with the idea of dropping it to £50 and see if there’s any takers then lol!

Thanks for letting me know! And you’re right, it’s very generic. Honestly, it sounds like you’re in love with your first dress. I hope by taking the sides in it ends up fitting better and you fall in love with it all over again!! I mean it is your big day…of course you want to wear the dress of your dreams! I’m sure whatever you pick will look amazing.

i prefer dress 2 in every way – style, details and how it fits you.

I just wanted to say nobody, absolutely nobody ‘hated’ dress 1 as you say they did . Its just that most thought 2 more flattering . I agree, though I’m no lace-strapless-mermaid fan . I love 1, it just needed some alterations.

I like dress number 1 better, but I agree that dress number 2 makes your body look better. But it all depends on what you want to look like on your wedding day. I would have never worn a mermaid dress, even though they looked great on me when I tried them on, simply because they are not my style and they don’t feel like “me”.
