@MissRCcar:  I’m glad latching is going well!! I enjoyed a few sips for you! This weekend I’m going to try beer… the hops are supposed to help milk production… I am currently pumping roughly 18 ounces a day… I would at least like to get it up to 24…. we will see….

@hopefulmama:  Congrats sorry to hear about the labor troubles… I suppose it is somthing you can hold over her head when she’s a teenager? Always try to find the bright side… my and my hubs are already trying to figure out what age to tell her what a trouble maker she was from a very early age!!

@carriejuly:  I have heard that hops are good for breast milk production. A good friend of mine has a small micro-brewing company, and we went to their tasting. They made sure to let me know it could help with production. I am not fond of beer myself, but DH and Father-In-Law has a great time.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE to see all the pictures of the new babies. I really do need to upload some more pictures of my little angel Nolan. Today he had his first peds appointment. It went well but they are a little concerned about his left hip. They said something about it clicking, they want to moniter it for the next couple of months. Other then that Nolan did GREAT. Plus his doctor is a wonderful women.

Congrats to all the new mamas! Pretty soon all the fall babies will be here! My dog woke me up from our nap, but Fenner is still snoozing. Since I cant fall back asleep (this is tragic) I thought I’d get around to posting a quick version of my delivery:

I was induced with pitocin at 7:30am, but it was a low dose. DH & I hung out for a few hours while I had mild contractions. When my midwife checked me I had only dialated to 2 cm! So she  broke my water. Things got very messy, so I labored in the shower as the contractions got Very Strong. After an hour or so, DH called the nurse to ask if she could turn the lot in down because the contractions were on top of each other. She called my midwife to check me & I was at 7 cm!  i had dialated so fast I didn’t ask for an epidural – I thought I could handle the next 3 cm.

i was right – I got to a 10 & was ready to push in 20 min! I was having more trouble breathing through the pain, but thought that his birth was just around the corner, so I still didn’t ask for medication. Then I ended up pushing for 4 HOURS!! Fenner’s head just wouldn’t stay low enough for me to push him out. They gave me some Fentanyl to relax (I remember saying how tired I was over & over) and finally they called a Dr. to do a vacuum extraction. Fenner was born at 7:13pm & was 7lb 13oz.

I was so grateful to everyone who helped me during labor. My nurse, midwife, & DH were so encouraging and thoughtful while I pushed. I only had 2 small tears! I kept thanking the Dr who did the vacuum & my stitches. And of course now I’ve got my sweet little dude who is starting to squirm, so I better go!

im going to be checking back – I want to hear more about all your sweet babies!

Hey ladies,

I know that I haven’t posted in aaaaaages but just wanted to let you all know that our wee girl Alexis Jane finally arrived on 16/10 at 1424 after a gruelling 27 hour labour and ventouse delivery.

Plans of a natural intervention free birth went out the window when progress completely stalled after about 12 hours (went into active labour at around 1130 on 15/10) so after plenty of pitocin, an epidural (yay for epidurals!) and an episiotomy, Alexis was finally delivered on 16/10 in the afternoon.

Hope everybody is all well and our Fall Babies are all behaving!

Baby Justine Mae has finally decided to make her apperance after being 5 days past her due date.  We ended up having to get a c-section at the end but it was worth meeting our little girl.  Only comment I have right now is holy batman breastfeeding is hard.  My nipples are killing me, she’s cluster feeding right now.  We just got home yesterday.  So glad to be home.  Will post her birth story once I have more time.  Congratulations to all the fall mamas and can’t wait to hear all the other fall mamas welcome their LO.  Take care for now everyone!

Sammi Jo’s birth story:

October 17th, we had an appointment for an ultrasound, the ultrasound tech got concerned because my amniotic fluid level was at 3.2cm.  So I went right into the non stress test and SJ seemed to be doing well.  After that appt I met with the Dr.  She was concerned about the low amniotic fluid so she sent me right to the hospital to be induced.  ( while i was in active labor, the midwife came in and said someone else looked at my u/s and said i had 10cm fluid but when the midwife tried to break my water, there was nothing that came out so someone was wrong with my u/s.  either way, i have a healthy beautiful baby girl)

We checked into the hospital, they had us order some lunch and around 1:30pm they started my pitocin drip.  From this point on, i’m not sure of times at all but i do know that the contractions came on fast & were intense.  I labored for as long as i could before asking for some relief.  I got nubane (sp?) and was put in the tub.  At this point I was only 4cm.  I lasted in the tub for about an hour.  The contractions were coming about a minute apart so my DH looked at me and said ‘You need to get out of the tub now if you want the epidural’.  I moved as fast as I could and the nurse (who was wonderful) had already ordered the epidural and it was on it’s way up to me.  I got the epidural and shortly after that (it was wonderful!) my body began to push and I couldn’t control it.  they checked me again and i was 10cm 100%.

Time to push.  I remember looking at the clock, it was 9:45pm when I first started to push.  I could still feel alot of discomfort and some pain but it was manageable.  Pushing was the only time I felt good.  SJ & I seemed to handle the contractions well.  at 11:51pm I pushed one last time and SJ came right out scraming!

SJ was put on my chest to be cleaned while the midwife & nurse started to tend to me.  I was doing ok until the midwife yelled for someone to get the surgeon.  When she was told he was in surgery, she yelled ‘get me another surgeon now!’  This is where i started to panic a little and my DH did everything in his power to keep me calm.   I had alot of 3rd degree tearing.  A surgeon finally came in and all he said was ‘Get out of my way, Michelle move your ass closer to me’  and the stitching began.  They finally finished stitching me up around 2:15/2:30 am.

All that aside, I ended up with a beautiful, perfect daughter that I love to death.  Her 1st dr. appt went great and yesterday on her 1 week birthdate, she lost her belly button stump (thankful for that because that thing stinks)  but it’s looking good & she’s doing great.  Sleeping like an angel right now…..

once I was stitched up, they gave her to me and I caught this little smile…..

@Meshka:  adorable… congrats!!! I hope you are feeling well!! An Congrats on your husband able to stay calm during all of that, when I had complications I could see the worry in his eyes.

I was wondering for all those who are pumping or formula feeding how much their little one is taking in… over night mine went from 24 ounces a day to 30… I try to sooth her in other ways but we both spent most of yesterday crying… lol so when my husband came home we just increased the amount and she is better. We tried 4 ounces at a time but at night she was still waking every 21/2 to 3 hours. Just was hoping to see how everyone else is doing for feeding…

PS I decided to give up breast feeding it was stressing me out too much and we tried to give her a pacifier to help her suck and she hates it! I figure if I pump and we forget about the pacificer maybe we will be happier in the long run?
