My quick version of delivery….

saturday night I started having contractions but they were still 8-12 minutes apart.  tried to get some sleep but of course I couldnt.  Woke up Sunday with more regular and painful contractions but labored at home until they were 4-5 minutes apart and then called the dr and she told me to go to hospital to get checked. I was only dilated 1 1/2 cm and was told I could stay and walk around or go labor more at home but they couldn’t give me any pain meds yet (ugh).  So we went home.  Of course once I got home the pain was more intense.  Again tried to get some sleep but that didn’t happen.

monday morning I was having regular contractions, Darling Husband had to go to work for a bit so my mom came over and I was in so much pain.  Called Darling Husband and dr and they said to go get checked again. We went over around 2pm and I was 4cm dilated, woohoo! Admitted!  I asked for an epidural right away and within an hr of being admitted the anesthesiologist was up and ready to administer the epidural.  This is where it goes downhill.  after being in the “epidural position” for an hour and half, 3 anesthesiologists and 5 failed attempts to put the epidural in my back I was told I couldnt get an epi.  They apparently just kept hitting bone and told me they have never not been able to give an epi.  As soon as I heard that I started bawling again (after I cried thru the 5 attempts), because I knew I had to go natural.  The dr checked me and I was at 6 cm.  a short while after they broke my water and gave me pitocin (which hurt like crazy).  The pain was so intense and I was exhausted after being in labor for almost 48 hours.  They gave me morphine, but it did nothing to help with contractions.  The dr checked me twice within an hr and I was a 7-8 cm both times.  i was in so so much pain the dr said a csection was an option, which we decided to go with.  My Darling Husband. Couldn’t be in the room with me during the csection because they put my completely under since they couldnt give me a spinal tap either, so that was upsetting.  But within a half hour of starting the baby was out and brought to my Darling Husband and theN they brought me into the room shortly after.  Definitely not the labor I was going for and yes, I somewhat feel like a failure not being able to get to the end for a vaginal birth but it is what it is and our baby is completely perfect and healthy.  Addison was 8 lbs, 8 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long.  Our hearts were instantly full.

sorry this got so long! Hope everyone is doing well

@hopefulmama- Poor thing, sound like you had a touch delivery. Please never think you are a failure. Addision is so lucky that she had a mom who took care of her for 9 months so she could be born a healthy happy baby, whether her delivery was natural or c-section.

@Jenn23: I hope you’re feeling better soon. It must be so tough for you…take care of yourself.

@roxy821:  Congrats! Glad you have a happy baby!

@hopefulmama:  Congrats as well! You’re not a failure, you went through labor for days! I ended up having a c-section as well. I remember that when they told me that I need a c-section (I was stuck at 8cms for hours even though my contractions were coming fast and strong…turns out that he was transverse!), I started bawling and heaving uncontrollably. And up until that point I was pretty much calm!

I have been reading along here and I am getting so excited! I am due on Monday the 5th. I have been having some contractions but nothing regular. I am 98% effaced and finger tip dilated.. I am so scared they are going to have to induce me! I DO NOT WANT PITOCIN! Or an epideral.. I am hoping I can do this naturally but as we get closer to the D-day, I worry that might not happen! Has anyone delivered naturally on or after their due date!?

@ms.melli:  good luck doll! I made it 11 hours then caved but my labor wasnt natural since i had the cervedril so that probably made it harder. contractions were super close together.

@Audreysdance:  so adorable!!!!

@hopefulmama:  Sorry about your rough delivery but I’m glad everyone is happy and healthy now.

@ms.melli:  It looks like you have made some progress… just try not to get to stuck in your head on what you want…. labor is crazy and things may not go the way you hoped but as long as the end result is the same thats all that matters. That said I do hope you can do it naturally as possible. Just know my delivery was nothing like what I imagined, and I had very little control over it.

For everyone following my journey I just want to say thanks, we meet with a surgeon for Abigail last week, and hope to get a treatment plan tomorrow for her mass. We are now following some small amounts of blood found in her stool….:(… Other than that things are good…. apparently she was self soothing by eating and gaining to much so we cut her back which results in some cranky behavior but mangable.

I hope everyone is doing well!!

@Jenn23:  Hope you’re doing well!!

Sorry for the delay but wanted to let everyone know that baby Baguette was a girl!!  Born 10/28 (her due date!), 6 lbs, 15oz.  We had a chaotic first week — due to the hurricane we were evacuated from our hospital and could not return to our apartment because our town was under water and our apartment didn’t have power.  We are so happy to be back home and enjoying her!
