I have a diamond solitaire but I would love an alexandrite oval halo

I thought I wanted the Harry Winston style cushion halo with pave shank. I was so sure and I pinned so many pictures of that ring. When I finally tried it in person, I didn’t like the way it looked at all. So I went around looking for more and tried the tiffany solitaire. Also wasn’t anything special. And then I decided to try the tiffany solitaire with a pear shape diamond and I fell in love with the shape! That’s when I knew I wanted a pear. I finally decided on a pear diamond flanked by 2 tapered baguettes. And I think this is my dream ring. So classic and timeless

My first ring was completely different than what I planned on buying. It was white gold cushion cut with a rose gold halo and pave on the sides. When it immedately started to fall apart, I wound up getting my princess cut solitare that is more my normal style. I think I just liked the look of the mixed metals. I’m really not a big fan of halo rings normally.

diamondbeez :  Your ring is absolutely stunning. I loved pears but Darling Husband hated them. I eventually decided I didn’t want to wear a ring forever that he hated. I still drool over them though but usually in a halo. Yours is so classic and timeless!

I never considered a Marquise set diamond before, but I am in love with my ring. It feels so Princess-like, and it’s a setting you don’t see very often. My wedding band has 9 Marquise stones.

Before I went ring shopping with my Fiancé I was set on a princess cut and I liked halo settings. However, my ring is cushion cut (love cushion cut) and I decided after trying on a couple of halo settings that I just didn’t like the look of them on my finger. Pictures of my ring are down below 🙂

I thought I would only really like the classic diamond cut. Until I saw this…! Asscher solitaire with the hall of mirrors (step) cut!

I like the one on the top left.

when first started ring hunting I always liked pears, emeralds or ovals, but as I have quite small fingers I did not like the way it looked on my hand as I felt it drowned my wee fingers. As I originally avoided round diamonds cause I felt they were too “basic” I was quickly proven wrong once I started hunting! as soon as I tried one on i’ve fallen inlove <3
