I started my period when I was 10 years old. They were always irregular, long, heavy and painful but my my mom and doctor put it off to my body not regulating. Well, at the age of 15, nothing had changed. I could go 5 months without a period, or I could have 2 periods a month. I went to a new doctor, and he continued to blow me off, telling me there was nothing wrong with me. At 17, I got on birth control to try and regulate my periods. They worked, but the pain was still severe. After being ignored by my doctor again, I found a new one at age 19. After telling him about my symptoms and pain during my period as well as pain during sex, he did an ultrasound and discovered a fallopian cyst that was a little larger than my uterus. I had surgery in January 2010 to have it removed, and once my surgery was over, they told me that I had endometrial tissue in my uterus and several overian cysts. I had a D&C done to remove all the endometrial tissue. 3 weeks after my surgery, I went back because I was still having severe pain and bleeding (soaking through super plus pads and tampons within a matter of 1 to 2 hours) and I recieved another ultrasound. The lining of my uterus had built back up to the thickness before my surgery. I got some pills, the bledding stopped and my final ultrasound showed everything was back to normal. All of this happened while I was on birth control. My doctor suggested Depo Provera and it’s helped with the lack of periods, but I still get painful cramps and that same stabbing pain that I got before I had my surgery. It’s bad enough sometimes to make me double over. It usually starts in my side and works its way down my legs and around my back.
I’ve been putting it off as gas or having to go to the bathroom, but even after all that I still experience pain. I’ve also noticed that having sex is starting to hurt again, which was one of the symptoms I noticed when I first started having sex with my Fiance…
I go next month for my yearly exam, and I intend to tell him about it.
I guess my question is, did anyone with fallopian/ovarian cysts have reoccuring ones, even with medical treatment? I’m sort of afraid that it’s possible given all the symptoms I have.
