Hi ladies…I was just wondering what the chances are for a false BFP. I took 3 different tests on thurs, (wondfo, FR, and CB digital) and they were all positive. The wondfo and FR were faint, but the line was clearly there. I took another FR on Sat because I had a bachelorette party to go to, and it was even fainter than before, so I thought it was because I didn’t use FMU.
Fast forward to Sunday, and I started bleeding. Frantically, I started googling everything and I pretty much told myself it was a CP and I was losing the baby. I made a dr appointment first thing monday morning and had a beta then follow up with the dr. Based on my beta, she told me that I was never pregnant, my levels were only .8. She said that if there was any trace of pregnancy ever, it would have showed up and that it was a freak accident that I got 4 positive tests.
Obviously, I was really upset because we have been actively TTC for 9 months and we thought we finally got our BFP, but I was more upset with the delivery of the news. The dr was just very cold about the whole thing and made me feel worse about the whole situation.
Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of this happening? This just taught me to never test before I’m late because this was one of the most devasting things I’ve ever had to go through, especially because I was alone since my Darling Husband was out of town all weekend.

@lroetheli: Your doctor is full of crap. Having HCG in your blood at all means that you were pregnant. If you got 4 + tests and then started bleeding and then had a low blood HCG, you had a CP. I am sorry for your loss. As common as CPs are, they are never easy. ((hugs))
ETA: I would start looking for a new doctor based on the way you were treated.

Definitely sounds like a chemical pregnancy. From what I understand, false positives are extremely rare, and the prospect of getting 4 of them – all from different brands of tests – is impossible. I’m so sorry for your loss.

@lroetheli: I’m so sorry for your loss. I agree, I would be finding another doctor. I’m so sorry.

@lroetheli: I’m so sorry that you are going through this and that your doctor was a butthole. I agree that it sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I can’t believe that she told you that you were never pregnant even though you had 4 positive tests. False positives are rare enough, but I don’t think you would get 4 false positives. Your doctor sounds like a true Gem (sarcasm) and I would look for another one ASAP! Sending you hugs and postive thoughts 😉

@lroetheli: I’m so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy…

@lroetheli: Oh I’m so sorry! It does sound like you’ve had a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage–your doctor’s reaction makes me SO mad! (((Hugs))) I’m sure this is really tough to be going through, especially if you’ve been trying for 9 months. I hope you get your sticky baby soon.

thank you everyone for the kind words. I’m constantly amazed at the support on these boards!!
I should also correct myself and say that I actually saw the nurse practioner, and I will NEVER see her again. My actual dr is great, but since this was a last minute appointment, she couldn’t meet with me since she had other patients. But regardless, that doesn’t excuse the way I was treated.
