I’m not sure what I’m hoping to achieve by writing this. Just heartbroken and need to vent to someone..
Been TTC now for 13 months..only ovulated twice in that time. Had surgery to remove a fibrous cyst on an ovary in Dec. that they thought might be the reason. And I OVULATED! They told me not to get my hopes too high- might have just “shocked” my system and it may not be a permanent thing.
Well TRY WE DID!! I thought for sure this was it…we were going to get PG. This morning (11 dpo) I took a wandfo at 3am and went back to sleep after it looked like a BFN. Woke up at 7am and happened to see it for a quick second- AND IT WAS POSITIVE!!! I started shaking and ran to go take a FRER- just so sure it was positive. Took another wandfo to be sure too. Well, both came up negative. I then went to go look at the original test and I saw that the test line was very thin- not like the control. After googling I realized this is what an evap line must look like. I’m so beyond heartbroken, for those minutes I really thought this was it. Has something like this happened to anyone else??
The evil test:

It might just still be early. Was the evil test with first morning urine and the others later in the day? FMU is supposed to be more concentrated. Maybe try testing again tomorrow with FMU?

I know that a line can appear if it’s been awhile and it’s outside the testing window. I’m sorry 🙁

@MissLunchbox: I discovered the dreaded evap lines last month! but with a FRER – two tests actually!!. i was testing when we were on vacation and sharing a house with another couple. I tested twice, and both were negatives with no lines at all within 30 minutes. I didn’t want to throw the test in the garbage in case they saw it, so instead I put the tests in my bathroom bag. When we got home the next day there was definitely a line on BOTH tests and I was so excited! But then I took another frer and it was negative and I got my period the next day :(. The evap lines definitely look different than bfps, almost hollow/shadows/grey. Still it’s sooo soooo heartbreaking 🙁

@LucilleToo: I took the first around 2:30-3am and the second tests around 7am so at least a 4 hour hold. As much as I’d like to hold out hope- I think I’m out :/
@Cory_loves_this_girl: Lesson learned. From now on they go into the deepest corners of my garbage outside of the window.
@CityBearBride: Oh geeze that’s even worse. I kind of expect the wandfos to be a little untrustworthy but an FRER I would have thought would be fine to read later. I’m sorry you had to go through that
How can I be so sad about something I didn’t even HAVE!? So many tests…I’ve never had another line show. It’s like a cruel joke.

@MissLunchbox: So sorry you got your hopes up! EVAP lines are so awful and disheartening. When I was TTC I made sure that any tests were discarded out of sight and out of mind.
Wishing you loads of baby dust and success that you get your BFP soon.

🙁 I got a positive on a digital and then no lines on 4 different tests today so I feel your pain. I’m sorry!

@mixtapehearts: That can happen!? How many DPO?

@MissLunchbox: Are you sure it isn’t positive?? I read somewhere that some wondfos are more sensitive than FRERs (something like 10 vs 15 um HCG) so unless AF has shown, I wouldn’t count yourself out yet!
It’s still early, so I tried not to feel down until AF came. I know it is heard, but you never know. Also, FMU is so concentrated since you don’t typically drink while you are sleeping so even just holding it won’t give you the same concentration, did you drink in that 4 hours?

Yea, I know the feeling. I got TWO false positives, on TWO different brands last month, they actually had colour on them. And then one evap. I was so upset 🙁
I’d just had a miscarriage the month before so I thought for sure I was more fertile and had a better chance of conceiving but it was a big fat nope.
*hugs* I know it’s a huge disappointment.
That being said, you’re not out until you’re out.

@MissLunchbox: that why it’s very important to check the results within the time window… So the stupid evap/shadow lines don’t get your hopes up….
fx tho that this is your month!

@MissLunchbox: I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I saw an evap around 10 dpo, but didn’t get a BFP until 12 DPO.
Also, I’m going to go against the grain from some of the PPs. So far, its been my experience that the Wondfo HCG tests (or at least the batch I have) take way longer than 5 minutes to show up. I’m getting clear positives now at 15 DPO, but if I only wait 3 minutes, I don’t even think I’d see a squinter.
I would suggest taking a test in another few days with FMU, and then coming back like 20 minutes later. Evaps are grey. BFPS are pink.
FX for you!

I thought evap lines weren’t as common on pink tests like wondofo? I thought I had an evap line show up outside the window – turned out to be a positive. Don’t give up hope just yet.

@MissLunchbox: So sorry! Internet hugs! 🙁
