If you’re concerned, I’d just walk into a Planned Parenthood and get some bloodwork done, if that’s an option. I just walked into my dr’s office and asked to be tested, since I had positive home tests, and they fit me in at almost 4 weeks along. I didn’t have my first real appointment until 8 weeks, though. If you can’t get to an office, definitely check out a bunch of pregnancy websites (like Fit Pregnancy, and BabyCenter) to check out things you can’t have now, and things that you need to be doing (like prenatals). You’ll be surprised at some of the things you’ll need to avoid, as well as the lesser known pregnancy woes (I’ve been hit with random bad bloody noses, who ever talks about that?!) Enjoy reading up!

@spraguebride: I think its pretty standard for an OB not to see you until 8-10 weeks.
There really isn’t anything special to do during this time except for cut out all the “no-no” foods such as lunch meat, alcohol, sushi, etc. On the WTEWE website, they give some great diet guidelines for during pregnancy. Also get on a prenatal asap. Any kind will do!
Welcome to all this! Our BFP was a surprise as well and it definitely took my husband a while to come around. Now at 11 weeks I think he is more connected to the baby then I am! It helps to talk about things but don’t push him. For example, my husband didn’t want to talk about names at all for a while but over time he has out of the blue said, “What about ____ name?”.

I’m a little late, cuz university work keep me so busy this past week:S Everyday I was thinking “Oh I hope she’s pregnant, when I get to home I will check” but then I was so busy working than just opening the computer seem to take time.
Anyway enought about me, CONGRATS!!! I’m so happy for you, you seemed really exited to be pregnant and just to know that you were trying to be, and really want it to happen make me wishing even more for you!! 🙂 I don’t have kids or anything, but I can totally imagine all the feelings you are having, a baby is a huge responsability and you are right lots of things come with it, but as long as you are there for him/her it will be ok. Aboout the money and all that, my mom told me once that you find they way to cut your expenses or manage better your money in order to give him/her everything he/she need:)
I’m so happy for you!! and I know you will overcome the shock:)
