Yea my family cant hold water…my fiance proposed to me on our vacation to NYC and before we left my mom was all ” You need to buy a nice out fit…you need to get your nails done…how are you wearing your hair in NYC? And when I asked her why she gave really lame answers… “Anytime you go somewhere you should get your nails done” Huh? yea, I knew something was up and that made it even more unbearable/awkward.

By The Way are you an AKA? Just wondering from your screen name…

my family knew and they kept dropping hints, and what made it worse is that they kept expecting it to happen. so they werent helpful with the “so tonights going to be special huh?”

My family knew and didnt say anything. They were a little suspicious though, my sister insisted on doing my hair and makeup *laugh*

My Fiance only told his mother when he was ready to buy the ring, because he wanted recommendations for a jeweler.  And because it saved money, he had it shipped to his dad’s (they are divorced) so that’s the only way he knew, otherwise, no one else knew until he popped the question.  Something like that works, otherwise, I’m not a fan of family (especially non-essential members) knowing all the details.  Takes away the fun really…

My boyfriend has asked my dad (in December) and so my Mum knew, and has accidentally told me about a month ago, because she thought i knew, but i didnt. They have told their best friends and also i think my brother. So it is just constant – i can understand your frustration!

In particular, my Mum “Any news….???” everytime i see her – i snapped the other day and said “Mum, seriously, just stop asking, because you know what, i will CALL you when he proposes!”

My family didn’t know until we told them. My dad isn’t in my life so it isn’t like we had to cross that road, and Mom was pleasantly surprised and pleased when she found out.

I’m sure if he’s planning on proposing anytime soon.  But he is coming in from OK (military training) for July 4 weekend and I had no clue.  When I mentioned this to his mom, she made this weird facial expression.  She knew for a week now he was coming in.  He was keeping it from me to surprise me.

So if his mom ever finds out he’s proposing, I’m not sure if she can keep it in.

My family isn’t dropping hints so that makes me think it won’t be this summer… my mom does want to start looking at wedding dresses but I think that’s because she watches too many wedding tv shows 🙂

I know my SO is afraid my mom would let something slip… Maybe he can ask my father when we visit my home state in July ?
