wow… um that’s not a prank! that’s insanity, what were they thinking?!? My husbands cousins idea of a wedding prank was during one of our slow dances he had arranged the DJ to change our song to the harlem shake song and all 85 of our guests swarmed the dance floor around us screaming and dancing.. that’s a prank, something fun/cute and memorable… what they did is horrifying i don’t know how you’re even going to ever talk to these people again!

I cannot believe ANYONE would do such an idiotic thing. Seriously, it looks like your house got robbed/trashed. His family is a bunch of a-holes plain and simple. I am so sorry you had to start off newlywedness like that. I would 100% make them pay for any damage, and for it to be professional cleaned. If I were you it would take a long time for me to talk./hang out with them.
Side note.. I was super pissed at my new BIL’s and my DH’s best friends after the wedding too. They “decorated” our car we drove away in with penis’s and filthy words all over the windows ect. It was something that would be funny at a bach/ bachlorette party but not the drive away car at a wedding where family were all there to see you off. We coudn’t use any of those pictures. I know it doesn’t come close to comparing to what happened to you but it just shows how stupid boys can be sometimes. Girls would NEVER do crap like that to eachother.

I would ask them to pay, up-front, for the damages. I would give them 24 hours to ‘pony up the dough’.
If they didn’t, I would press charges, and sue.
I would also change my locks, and bill them for that too.
And finally, once I had the cash of them/had sued them, I would cut all contact, and expect OH to do the same.
That isn’t a ‘prank’: it is criminal damage, end of story. I don’t know anyone who would think this funny, or acceptable, at 12, let alone 18-20. And that fact their families would defend them says everything: clearly, their parents are thick as shit as well, because if anyone I know did anything REMOTELY like that to someone, there would be HELL to pay from their parents.

@Vikstar: They had left their door unlocked as they live in a rural area and their neighbours were taking care of their dog(s) and their parents’ dog that were inside.

I would have taken pictures and pressed charges. That’s not a prank, that’s home invasion and vandalism. That’s not fun, or funny. That’s cruel and horrible.

How on earth could anyone think that is funny? THe closet alone would take hours to put back togehter… dusting the flour off of everything… I would have sobbed too. I would have called them and said “cute” now come clean it up or we call the cops. I would totally change the locks and codes to the garage. I cannot believe his family didn’t support you either. A “prank” is drawing a penis on your windsheild with soap…. or putting condoms all over your bed… Destroying your house makes zero sense and is rude.
