I agree with the majority of people here that you calling the cops was the right thing to do and that you should make them pay for a cleaning service.

MemberThis isn’t even funny. It’s crazy. But I still would not have called the cops. I would have actually COMPLETELY expected them to clean up. Like come home, call them like “you may want ot videotape our reaction,” and then have them get to cleaning until it was done (I would help just so I can stop wasting more of my own time). But it is wrong and cruel and innapropriate.
I WOULD HAVE HAD THEM CLEAN IT THOUGH!!

MemberMy husbands family has a tradition of doing this kind of crap and I voiced quite loudly that I would NOT have appreciated it at ALL if they tried it, and I didnt care who I offended with my comments. We actually went so far as to change the locks and garage code on our home so they couldnt get in. It was a good thing too because not only could they NOT do anything but we left for our honeymoon the monday after we got married and our return flights home were so delayed we didn’t get home till almost 4:30am after LEAVING St. Thomas around 5:45am (almost a 24 hour travel day.) If I had come home to that, heads would have rolled.
I would have made them come to the house and clean EVERYTHING up and pay for any damage done to the house. unreal.
MemberI keep coming back to this thread and each time I just cant get over this. See this would turn me into the bitch from hell. Press charges, for the house AND the attempt on your lugnuts, restraining orders, take them to small claims court, sue them the whole shebang. But for me, even this wouldnt be enough. I would have to go over there, scream and shout, cut them out of my life and tell them exactly WHY I didnt want to ever even whisper their names again. DH?free to see them whenever he wants, but they would be dead to me.
This is unreal. I cant imagine how you feel, but know that if ay of the bees ever et them, Im pretty sure we would all slap em upside their head!

I would have pressed charges. If that’s going to far at least make them clean for you and reimburse for the damaged floors.
That was an act of vandalism but a few pig headed kids. They need to learn that behavior like that is NOT ok.

wedding pranks are usually something that smells bad in your ‘getaway car’, like you said removing can labels, shortsheeting the bed, even if they’d TP’d your house I’d be okay with it but this is WAY too far! This is beyond unacceptable.

MemberThat’s not a prank… that’s vandalism. If it were anyone else other than family who had done that, you would have definitely called the police and pressed charges.
I think they should have had their asses over there helping you clean the mess up, and they need to pay to have your floors repaired/refinished.
What a bunch of punks.
I would be absolutely livid and not care if my attitude pissed of the rest of the family.
