Grandma and Grandpa on dads side are Ted (Theodore) and Diane

on my Moms side Carle and Pearl and FIs grandmas name is Marline.

Mine (I’m including my maternal grandparents’ middle names because they’re just so awesomely bad):

Merton Garfield (Mert)

Margaret Keetch (Marge. My g’ma’s middle name was ‘Winifred,’ which was her aunt’s name. My g’ma hated it, so she dropped it when she married)

Jerry (there’s a masculine name used a feminine one for ya! I have no idea if it’s short for something)

Robert (Bobby – the man I think of as my paternal g’pa)

Raymond (my actual paternal g’pa)

My husband’s:


Karolous (Karel [pronounced ‘Karl’] – he’s Dutch)

Betty Ruth and Betty Lou (yes, both Betty and both very southern names)

My grandfathers:

Dallas (no middle name) and Robert Eugene

FI’s grandmothers:

Barbara Sue and Sarah Elizabeth


FI’s grandfathers (don’t remember their middle names):

Paul and….let me get back to you.  Both of his grandfathers passed away before we started dating.

PS. I sortof want to use the names Leo (my Grandpa) and Asa (my husband’s grandpa).  I feel like Asa is more of girl name even though it was his Grandpa.

Lois & Herbert

The middle name, Nelson, is actually the family name and was Joe’s father’s name. Several of my cousins, and my dad, have Nelson has their middle name. My brother does not.

My FI’s grandmother’s name was Edith and she was the only one he knew. The rest had all passed away by the time he was born.

“Dewy” I cannot remember his actual name, I have never met him. They got a divorce when my mom was little. He died a few years ago before I got to meet him.


Lawrence (everyone called him Jip) He was the one I always knew as grandpa but he died of cancer 5+ years ago.


Frank, My grandma’s current husband.

I was looking at the differences between names that seem older and one’s that are very current…like Amy.  Must be the difference in our ages?  My grandparents were born in the 20s.
