- Wedding: March 2011
Ooh, my first thread. Exciting.
I am 14 days out from my wedding and I have spent today working on one of my big reception decor projects.
We are having a small 60-person wedding and are holding our reception at a restaurant on the waterfront. It is a private room on the second floor with a private balcony with views of the bay. Here’s a photo of the room (its set up as a “lounge” in this photo but we’re having the room set up with two long family style tables.”
As you can see from the photo, there are a few booths on the left side of the room that we will not be using for seating. But I didn’t want to just leave a bunch of empty booths in the room so I’ve decided to do a display of family photos for guests to look at during the cocktail hour.
We will use three booths for this display. The middle booth will be for Fiance and I. I will place a 16×20 canvas of our favorite engagement photo, our guest book and a leatherbound photobook I ordered of all our engagement photos. The left booth will feature my family and the right booth will feature FI’s family.
I wanted to do a mix of family photos, family members who have passed away, and old family wedding photos. I collected the photos from my mother in law and my mom, scanned them, digitally corrected the images, and then uploaded them to Walmart’s website for processing.
I went to our local Walmart tonight and picked up the groom’s photos and bought $40 worth of frames in various sizes and put together a mock up on my bed (forgive the grainy cell phone pic and the mess, we’re in the middle of moving!)
I think it will look really nice and with so many photos I don’t think anyone will notice the cheap $3 frames.
