So of course planning a wedding there are always conflicting ideas and as most of you bees know EVERYONE has an idea. Well in our wedding we’re having a lot of help from my FI family, which I’m very grateful for. We live in Germany now, close to his family, as my family lives in the states.
My FI grandmother has offered to make our wedding cake, which I know she’s capable of, as she’s a great cook and baker. She decided she’s going to make a layered nutella cake. It consists of tons of very thin layers and is very time consuming.
The thing is…. it’s brown… The outside is a nutella flavored frosting.I don’t want a giant brown wedding cake. I know it’s delicious but it’s just big and brown…. It’s my FI favorite cake and I asked if it could be white and she said not really (White nutella… I don’t think so).
Am I being crazy? What should I do? I don’t want to insult her by not accepting her offer but I’ve always pictured a white wedding cake… what to do, what to do…

Can you decorate it with white accents? Can you have the Nutella cake as a groom’s cake and have a more traditional white cake also?

That’s what I was thinking maybe. But the FI doesn’t even know what a grooms cake is. haha

Could you have a sweets table, so that you could have the two cakes present? This way no ones feelings are hurt.

I have looked at pictures of brown wedding cakes and I know it probably isn’t what you orginally envisoned, but they can be very pretty.

I think the best solution is making that one the grooms cake and getting another more traditoinal cake

you could see if she knows anything about fondant, most wedding cakes aren’t white everything, typically onyl the fondant is white and the rest is whatever flavour and colour the couple want. If she can’t do any fondant then just get some decorations for the cake in white.

She’d probably make something that looks something like this, except 3 layers. More of a textured look and the frosting is nutella.
I thnk grooms cake and traditional cake is a good idea
