Yes my mom has passed a lot of them down to me, even my father’s mother’s (grandma) recipe’s too that were handed down to her! I love having them because nothing beats mom’s homecooked meals so once I get the hang of most of them I think dinner at my place will be an even bigger hit 🙂

@Nola:I had a recipe shower! Got some cool stuff.  And old school recipes too.   Sometimes the simple recipes are the best! This is my go to fav…

1 pkg cheese tortellini, 1 bottle alfredo sauce, 1 cup frozen peas.

boil tortellini according to directions and add peas last 2 minutes.  When done cooking drain water from tortellini; put tortellini back in the same pot; pour alfredo sauce over tortellini/peas.  mix all together and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top when you serve.  Yummy yummy!!!

My mom’s side of the family is huge, so they actually publish a family cookbook every few years for us all to share with each other around the country.  We really want to do that for my husband’s family since a lot of them cook amazing Italian food but never write down their recipes.

I got some too.  Future Mother-In-Law put together a bunch of recipes from their side of the family.   I don’t know anyone on my side (Asian, Fiance is white) that writes down ‘recipes’.  Its all my feel, tastes, and observation that you learn to cook so I’d never seen anything like that, but I think its great.

Absolutely. I asked my Mom to hand-write a bunch of my favorite recipes out for me, and a book of recipes was a bridal shower gift from my guests. It was awesome.

@MissHelen I LOVE that idea.  How did you create the recipe book?  I want the invites to be sent out with one or two recipe cards that people are requested to write their best family recipe and then sent back with an RSVP… then use them to create the book.  Family recipes are the best and I think such an important part of memories!
