My fiance is the greatest!!!
But he’s also only about 5’9″ on a good day. Being 5’7″, I’m really weary of wearing any sort of heeled shoe on our wedding day because I don’t want to dwarf him while I wear stilettoes.
Unfortunately, the only really amazing shoes I’ve been able to find are all pretty party pumps. Even David’s Bridal only has ONE shoe that’s a complete flat and it’s kind of ugly. Dyable but very plain.
I refuse to believe that I’m the only bride that’s ever had to worry about being taller than her groom on their wedding day. Any advice or links to steer me in the right direction?
Bonus points if it’s on the cheap. 😉

my fiance is only a few inches taller than me as well, so i am making him shoe shop with me so i know that i won’t be taller than him on the wedding day. that was the only solution i have found so far. havent been able to find any really nice flats. sorry.

It is difficult to find beautiful wedding flats. Do a search here on WeddingBee and you will see many Bees have had the same problem.
Post your bridal FLATS!!! 🙂
One easy solution is to buy a plain pair of flats in the color and style you like and add a shoe clip or a rhinestone/pearl applique.
These are cute and available in several colors;
The same site has other satin flats:

They aren’t what I’d call cheap, but they do have fancy flats

my Fiance is 5ft4 (awww) and I’m the same height as him!
I bought my shoes in the Debenhams sale (department store in the UK) and they were less than £20 🙂 Gold glitter pumps.
The glitter ones look more ‘bridal’ than any others I can find!

I ordered a pair of fancy flats very similar to the Vera Wang Lavender Luna flats, and I LOVED them. They were ~$50 and so so pretty and comfy! Here’s a photo:
There are tons of other cute flats at DSW, I would spend some time on that website and on Zappos, and filter the search down to flats, and in the color you’re looking for. Good luck!

@Eckle: ohmigawd I want a pair of ALL of those!!!!!!! So CUTE!!! Thank you!
@julies1949: that’s probably the best advice I’ve gotten on the topic yet. I have a friend who works at David’s and they can dye the shoes whatever color I want for only $5. That’s probably the best course of action. Thank you, too!!

@Mrs. Wallaby: These are exactly what I was going to post! I didn’t get these, but I love them.

Just my 2 cents: the shoes don’t show much and ended up not mattering much in the end (to me). I wore flats and took careful consideration as I picked them out. I got them in the summer and they were white ruffley/lacey flats. I don’t have a single pic of them lol Well, there is one pic where I’m walking down stairs and you see the tip of my shoe and that’s it. My suggestion is to find a comfy pair and not stress to much about it.

Try a simple google search.. I found these by doing that. Granted we only wore them after the ceremony but all my girls LOVED them.. bonus was they were only $4 a pair. Unfortunately I don’t remember the website 🙁

@RoyalLime: CUTE!!!! If you ever remember, please let me know. I want to do something like that for my girls too because we’re going to be outdoors and I’m worried their shoes will sink into the terrain.

I wore these red flats (red was our primary wedding color). I’m 5’11” and my husband is 6’2″, so the choice was partially for comfort and partially for height reasons. Mostly just that I’m already tall enough as it is. 😉
I got these on Zappos for about $60. 🙂 I love Zappos because you can shop by heel height, color, price, etc. And they ship for free both ways!

I wore flat sndals to our wedding. Darling Husband is only about an inch or 2 taller than I am.. Plus we had an outdoor wedding so I wanted something comfy. I’m picky about shoes and I didn’t want tacky shoes. Its SOO hard to find dressy (weddingish looking) flats in shoes or sandals. I’d keep my eye open online.. I noticed it was easier to buy them in the summer.. I let my girls pick out their own shoes/sandals.
these are the sandals i wore, and they were decently priced and super comfy. They are by Carlos Santana
