Ew, the jumbo ones are pretty obviously a mountain of icing. That always gets dumped off on a plate. They also look just about impossible to eat without silverware. Go with regular and more than one per person. Have you looked at bakery prices by comparison? I mean if you’re willing to spend over three bucks apiece, you might be able to get something less ‘grocery store’ … I say that as someone who totally did grocery store for her own wedding to make strawberry shortcakes. The presentation is distinctly lacking.

psyche1978 :  jumbo cupcakes are often too big for many people. i would go with regular cupcakes, and make sure to buy more than 1/pp, so that the people who do like having a large bit of cake can have more than 1. but for many adults, one regualr sized cupcake is plenty – the jumbos would just be mostly wasted.

skunktastic :  TheGridMonster :  just for people not familiar with Publix – it’s not just a grocery store bakery. those who live in the south will regale Publix as the Mecca of grocery stores, and it’s SUPER common for people to get “fancy” event food from there for parties, etc. I didn’t grow up with Publix, but I married a Florida boy and there is no end to the love for Publix and talk about how it surpasses regular grocery stores – similarly to how people have a love of Wegman’s or Wawa (if you have any reference for those things)

we were in a florida a few months ago and stopped at a publix to pick up some groceries and lunch.  i had the best italian sub, almost as good as italy.  i wanted to go back and order it again…..

catskillsinjune :  oh interesting, I had no idea, not familiar with the south at all. In that case, I wouldn’t stop at cupcakes, my whole wedding menu would come from there 😂

I would get the regular as well. A huge cupcake just doesn’t sound that appetizing and a lot of people probably won’t be able to finish one, resulting in waste. Would it be possible to get some more interesting flavors than vanilla and chocolate?

Regular with enough for 2pp. People would have to eat 5.5 regular ones to equal the price of the large one. That more than likely means people will eat 1/3 of the jumbo and throw the rest out.

You could even order 3pp and come out ahead. Buy to-go boxes if you want this to be a favour as well.

Definitely regular. The fancy ones just look like a lot of icing.

Another vote for regular.  I love publix!  I would kill to one have one in my neck of the woods.

psyche1978 :  I lived in Florida for 2 years and I loved Publix but I don’t remember their cupcakes.  But I agree on the regular cupcakes.  No one wants a jumbo cupcake that is almost the same only bigger.  I’d consider paying 3.59 for special cupcakes but they’d have to be fancy cupcakes, not just jumbo filled ones.  But I agree with PP, PLEASE do not do a “cupcake cake”.  Those are always so hideous!  I love the strawberry ones.  I would order at least 1.5 per person, up to 2 per person.
