@chica95110:  interesting question to research on Chica95110. I know diamonds have Mohr scale of 10, the hardest and diamonds by nature have inclusions.

I also know cubic zirconia though it has no inclusion is softer than diamonds. Please share what you find out.

@chica95110:  The Mohs scale strictly refers to hardness, or the gem’s resistance to scratching. Since hardness doesn’t refer to toughness (the gem’s structural integrity), a milky white diamond would still be a 10 on the Mohs scale.

Think of it like this: emeralds are an 8 on the Mohs scale, but they tend to be included, and as a result, brittle. A milky white diamond might be like this, albeit not quite as fragile overall because they are harder.

@Luvdisc:  good point. All diamonds have inclusions…the vvs, vs ratings just refers to the visibility of the inclusion to the naked eye or under magnification.  Do you think a VS1 will be amy different from an S1?

Not a fan. They don’t even look like diamonds to me. They look like frosted glass.

@dewingedpixie:  I think they look cold too. I like warmer stones, like the equivalent of an I or J diamond.

@_always__:  I also don’t like translucent diamonds…the look just too commercial, like stitched up mirrors, without character and not unique. these fancy whites are collector items, rare and are just intriguing.

@_always__:  Yeah I don’t like them either. They just look like a really cloudy. It doesn’t look like they’d sparkle like a diamond normally does.

@bapbap:  I wonder if they do sparkle like a diamond normally does…To me they look like cloudy CZs. Everything I love about diamonds, they don’t have, but to each his own.

I don’t like a very broad range of stones. I like deep red rubies, warm (but not fancy) diamonds, small diamonds (like 1/10 ct etc. It’s really common for women in the region I just moved from to have 1/4 ct or less solitaire diamond rings and I think they’re gorgeous), and I do like moissanite since to me it’s like a warm, sparkly diamond. I guess I like citrine too.

@_always__:  actually CZ is more clear than diamonds…the are easily detectable because the too colourless to be true. The are other items that are colourless like crystal glass, the type on chandeliers.

Check outt tu the white diamond in this video,it has it’s sparkle and it’s personal character: http://youtu.be/K9aXdRDZBSs

But as you said to each his own.

@justchecking:  I meant CZ that has become clouded due to scratches and absorbing oils etc.

It definitely looks better on camera rather than in pics. I’m surprised they still sparkle. They’re pretty.
