- Wedding: October 2011
i am super excited and just wanted to share (i know most people IRL don’t want to hear about wedding planning, so i try not to bore them with it!)
we met with Future In-Laws & my parents. until now, we’ve had some trouble getting Future In-Laws to be involved in the wedding. but, at our meeting, they brought the guest list (most of it anyway) that we’ve been waiting on since early last summer! totally unexpected, they offered to pay for all of the beer and wine for the wedding, and help with the catering costs!!! WOOHOO!!! they are also having traditional outfits made for us and for my parents to wear at the wedding during the nigerian ceremony. i am thrilled that they are being so generous to pay for those things, but more so, i’m thrilled that they are wanting to be a part of it! i am beyond happy=)
then, my aunt called. she is a fantastic artist, we had tossed around the idea of having her draw something up for the invitation, but i wasn’t sure if it would be rude to ask her if she didn’t offer first. anyway, she talked to my dad, and he had told her we were thinking of having her draw something, she would be happy to draw up whatever we wanted and said she won’t be upset if we change our minds (her children are both married, she knows how we brides change our minds!), but she was calling to ask if we would like her to calligraphy address (is that how you would say that??) ALL of the envelopes!!! OMG! YES, PLEASE! how amazing is that?!?
i just needed to get that out! i am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life, seriously, i’m overwhelmed! =)
