Oh gosh. So, my wedding is August 1st, and I seriously need to lose a few pounds (at least 7 to be exact by then.)
Although I am not a fan of doing this regularly, I would like to figure out a method that can help me get my weight off fast.
I’ve been doing weight watchers, but I need something that will kick start my weight loss. I’m running 3x a week too. I can’t run more than that right now since my body isn’t used to it.
Thanks!

I don’t have a good weight loss program unfortunately, but just wanted to warn you of the dangers of quick weight loss. Most likely, you’re going to be lacking in the nutrition department and not getting all of the vitamins you need. Stress will be an issue as well as losing muscle mass in your heart (in a sense, weakening it). So please be careful and healthy! I hope Doctorgirl posts on this – she might have a healthy way to shed a few pounds.

If you’re following Weight Watchers you should be able to lose 7 pounds in 7 weeks which is more or less how long you have for your wedding. THat would be completely healthy. I don’t understand why you have to do something drastic that might hurt your progress. Just stick to the points system and eat the 8 good health guidelines and continue your running and you’ll see the progress.
Pounds aren’t really that important anyway, the important stuff is losing INCHES (by losing fat and gaining muscle) and THAT you cannot do overnight no matter what.

If you want to kick-start your weight loss again, try changing up your routine and eating more veggies. It’s usually your body getting used to what you’re doing that slows weight loss on WW, I’ve found.
For example, it’s summer–so instead of running one of those days, do a thirty minute swim and some water aerobics/water walking. Play basketball. Try a pilates class, spin class, etc.
And instead of having rice twice a week, sub it out with yellow squash, asparagus (great for last-meal-before-weigh-in, lol) and bok choy, three things that are tasty and kinda different for good summer meals.
Or, alternatively, do what we do at home and have "grill" night–if you can’t grill it, you can’t have it. Pasta, rice and potatoes are out, but we use whole wheat buns and eat starches like roasted grilled corn and grilled pineapple!
Good luck!

I would order a video from half.com like The 30 Day Shred or something along those lines to do on the days inbetween your runs.

fabulously engaged,
You can totally do this by using WW, just make smart decisions and try to primarily eat the "filling foods" like veggies, fruits and soups. Also make sure that you are not just focusing on eating, but keep exercising as you have been and plan your meals. Don’t starve yourself, use your extra flex points so that you don’t end up feeling totally desparate to eat and then give up completely.
As for the work outs, I agree with cinemaparadiso that you need to change up your routine to see some more immediate results. Don’t just do running, also do some weight training and to ensure that you aren’t going to injure yourself, do some yoga or pilates also. If you are part of a gym, consider getting a personal trainer to work with you. They may have some summer specials for this. If you aren’t part of a gym then consider joining one so paying the fee will keep you going not just now but AFTER your wedding too.
I love WW because it promotes a lifestyle change and not a quick fix, so think of your goals as helping you feel great for your wedding but also to stick too. It is so hard on your health to lose weight quickly and gain it all back even faster. So be gentle with yourself and learn to listen to you body’s cues regarding eating and movement.
You can do it!

I think the quick fix will be hard, but I’m guessing that you are hoping to lose some more inches to fit into your dress. Switching up the workouts will def help, do you have time to do a quick 30 minute "anything" before work in the morning to get your body moving, and then do you regular run in the evening? Also, remember that lots of salt will make you retain water, so watch out for processed foods and soup.

Agree with the others re: more veggies, make sure you also take your multi-vitamin each day so you don’t miss out on important nutrients. Weight training may not move the scale down BUT it will tighten you up such that you will probably get the results you want even without "losing". I lost almost 2 sizes in just under 3 mos. doing what I described above. GOOD LUCK and let us know how it’s going!!!

It’s healthy to lose about 1-2 lbs/week on a diet depending on your current weight and goals. If you want to lose weight fast, I would suggest following south beach which basically cuts out carbs (and alcohol, be prepared!) for 2 weeks and adds in a lot of fruits and vegetables.
I lost a lot of weight by just eating smaller portions and making sure i have a healthy breakfast every morning. Eating less at night really made a difference!
Good luck!

Bluebook- Oh, I wish I had seven weeks! I have more like three left!!
cinema- I love all of your suggestions! Veggies, veggies and more veggies! This is too important. I’m going to run to the grocery store before work tomorrow morning and pick up some more. I love the idea of grille night!!
Juby- I keep hearing about the 30 day shred. Apparently its an awesome video. I’ll go check it out after this post!
mam- That is exactly why I like ww too! It is a lifestyle change. Thanks for reminding me about SF foods. That technique worked really well for me when they had Core. I need to start incorporating some more things like that into my diet again!
moderndaisy- SB is a great diet. I may switch over to WW Simply Filling technique which is very similar.
Thank you everyone!

Do other workouts on your in-between days! Maybe something lower impact, yoga, pilates, or even going for a walk! Just burn more calories!

I just want to add that the last 2 weeks of wedding planning are kind of hectic and you may lose just by virtue of doing regular life.
Load up on fiber if you can… If you can’t eat enough, then add a fiber supplement.
1 lb a week of weight loss is a great goal. Much more than that and you can run into trouble.
Good luck!

i know south beach gets a lot of slack but it definitely gives quick weight loss and is great for you heart and skin!
i’ve lost 15lbs in 2 months and haven’t worked out once because i have had broken ribs and then a broken foot. i’m still not walking yet and have continued to lose.
i don’t follow the books exact meal plan, i usually just stay clear of what they say NOT to eat. this isn’t a low carb diet, it’s a diet that teaches you how to eat good carbs and to only eat whole grains. it also has to do with replacing sugar with splenda and eating good fats.
but for the first two weeks you cannot eat any kind of bread or fruit. after that, you’ll move on to eating them in moderation and to only eat whole grain.
like when i eat an apple or banana, i have to eat peanut butter with it. i actually like it more that way so it’s great for me!
other diets i’ve been on i couldn’t eat peanut butter or cheese. this diet has a lot of peanut butter and cheese so thats different for me. i’m getting to eat the food i love.
