I am getting married a month from tomorrow. I have my dress and am very pleased with it bar one thing….my arms!
I am 142 lbs and 5’4.5. Typically a size 8. I would like to drop about 6 lbs before the wedding. I have already lost about 6.
I am normal looking, but I have these beefy arms with a weird flabby bit on the underarm right before my armpit.
HELP! I have been doing triceps dips and lifting weights. Does anyone have a miracle cure??!!
Here’s the problem:

Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure for losing fat just off your arms. You’ve been doing the right thing to tone, but the weight will come off where your body wants it to. I realllllllly don’t think you have anything to worry about though from the pictures above.
Just keep doing what your doing because you look great. Also, from what I’ve been told you wont be thinking about your arms one bit on your big day!

Everyone has that armpit issue. Sadly there is no miracle cure. Try South Beach till the wedding. You lose the most in the first two weeks. Keep cranking those weights! Low weight, high reps!

It is impossible to target weight loss for one specific region of the body. If you want to trim your arms up, you need to do cardio and weight training for the whole body. The weights will help you tone the muscle, but you need the combo of WT and cardio to lose overall body fat. Only then will you see the fruits of your tricep dips labor! If you are only a month out and you truly want to see a difference, I would suggest working out 1 1/2 hours 5-6 days a week. If you have access to a gym, I would also try swimming laps. It’s great cardio for the whole body and really helps to tone up the arms/shoulders as well.

I don’t know if you will see a huge difference in one month, but do you do push-ups? They worked wonders for me.

Remember as well that you are the most critical person of your own body. Also make sure not to lose weight too rapidly or you’ll feel like crap and your dress won’t fit! I think you look great!

Do you have access to a pool? Swimming tones up just about everything. You can focus on your arms by getting those webbed gloves and literally pulling yourself through the water without using much of your leg power.
That being said I think you look great!! I don’t think you have anything to worry about, but I totally get it.

Your arms look great and are far from beefy. The only thing that will make them smaller (and you really don’t have a problem) is overall fat loss.

Push ups really helped tone my arms – do a google search for different types of push-ups and do them all! I’d do some in the morning, afternoon and evening – I bet you’ll see a difference in a month.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I went to my final dress fitting yesterday, and it seems my gym sessions have helped!
I am not 100% happy with the old arms, but they look better, and my back looks much better!! 2.5 weeks now…just trying to avoid carbs and weight and cardio train 4 days a week!!!
I have found too that free weights as opposed to weight machines make a bigger impact on my muscles…

@Stiz: I’ve found that pushups really help a lot, too. I HATE them, but they help me get that “dip” look in that area between the tricep and bicep. Pullups and dips are a great help, too. I can’t do a pullup by myself yet, but my gym has this machine that helps.
I wish you the best of luck with your fitness goals and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! 🙂

Just a random thought for you – a bunch of us are doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (search Summer Brides 2011 Jillian Michaels and you’ll find the thread); that might be something that would work out well for you given your wedding is only one month away.
It’s an awesome 20 minute workout combining strength training, cardio, and abs. As others have said, you really need to have the cardio with the strength training to see any results. JM also focuses a lot on the upper body whilst also incorporating the lower body. I’ve done 4 days of it and am feeling good now but was incredibly sore in every muscle group after the first two workouts! I consider myself fairly in shape and was a bit skeptical that it could really be that effective but I absolutely love it and am so pleased with the results (feeling stronger already and have dropped 2lbs, which is actually a problem as I wasn’t trying to lose any weight, but it’s just that good of a workout that’s what happens).
