So I just ordered tablecloths for my reception – basic white polyester – and am now looking for some fabric squares to put under my centerpieces. I don’t want full table runners because my tables are round, and I don’t want the fabric squares to hang down over the edge of the tables – I don’t like that look. I just want them to add a pop of extra color to the middle of the tables and provide a backdrop for the centerpieces. I’ll have 3 pots in the middle of each table as the centerpiece.
I found some fabric that I really like on Ebay. It’s bright, fun, and exactly what I’m looking for with the different sized white dots. The shop that sells them has on the description that they are sold by the “fat quarter”. I know exactly zilch about sewing, but it says that a fat quarter is 18″ X 22″. Would that be big enough for centerpiece fabric? Most of my tables are 60″ round, with 4 additional 72″ round ones (assuming, that is, that everyone on our guest list comes – so we might just end up needing only the 60″ tables). Would 18″ x 22″ or 18″ x 18″ squares look okay on tables that size, or would they be too small?
I guess I could always order one of the fat quarters as a sample…
