- Wedding: June 2012
When I first got engaged I thought the “surprise” father daughter dances were really cool! My Dad wasn’t 100% in to it and now he is–Mom is even telling me he has told a few neighbors (not guests at wedding) we are doing a special dance. Clearly he is excited about this!
I explained to Dad that in order to pull this off it had to be executed VERY well! I DO NOT want it to appear cheesy—if you have youtubed these videos, some are VERY cheesy! Everything about our wedding is elegant, I don’t want this to be a flop!
I had contacted my previous dance instructor from when I was a child and she was willing to choreograph a dance for us and have us practice it a few weeks out from the wedding.
I haven’t followed up because I really feel that this would take away from this special moment with my father. I talked with Dad about it tonight and he seemed as though he still wanted to do the special dance but realized the clock was ticking. I said I would still do it if he felt bummed out and wanted to do it and in not so many words he said that it would be cool to do something untraditional.
I don’t want to disappoint my Dad but I am not sure this is what I want to do! I think I would regret not doing a traditional dance with my daddy just to be “different.”
