Okay Bees, I really need your sugestions! I am getting married September 17th of this year (AH! :D)
My fiancé and I have pretty much all of our songs picked out for the big day. I am walking down to Turning Page by Sleeping At Last (Instrumental Version), and we are walking back to All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar. Our first dance song is Everything Is Sound by Jason Mraz, and my fiancé is dancing with my mom to 93 Million Miles by Jason Mraz.
I cannot find a father daughter dance song for the life of me! Everything is either really cliche or cheesy. I’m not the biggest fan of country music, so that rules some stuff out. Please help me come up with something good! I don’t know what to do!

I love your first dance song, it’s so happy!
Are you close with your father? Do you have any special songs that you used to sing together when you were younger. That’s how I decided to do a Beatles medley for my father/daughter dance. I was also thinking of “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison and you can have your DJ edit the song a little bit since to take out the parts that are not appropriate.

Hmm…just wondering, but are you able to just dance with your dad as your fiancé dances with your mom, rather than having two different dances? If not, have a listen to Stand by Me – Ben E. King. My fiancé and I are using this as our first dance because he absolutely loves it. When I heard it though, I actually thought it would make a nice parent dance song because it could be taken to represent romantic love, OR the kind of nurturing love that a parent has for their child.

Here’s what I would have used, had we been the sort of family that went for the ‘show’ dances. We are so not, lol, but I still think of it as my dad’s song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz4K0uvjBfU The man who would be Santa – I’ve never heard it played anywhere except my own CDs. Seems easy enough to dance to as well.

kcoast : My dad picked “Dance With Me Daughter of Mine” by John McDermott. It is a lovely song, but definitely sentimental so idk if you would find it cheesy.
If you really want something from left field you can dance to Shout or something of the sort which is just fun and not typical.

My Dad and I are dancing to “The Way You Look Tonight”. I think it’s a beautiful, classic song and (I hope) it’s not cheesy!

I think the perfect song is Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder.
He wrote it for his own daughter. It is sprightly but easy to dance to, and isn’t cheesy or sappy.

Isn’t She Lovely is a great choice! My favorite father/daughter songs that are less common are “Gracie” by Ben Folds, and “Father and Daughter” by Paul Simon.
Good luck! 🙂

hillputaringonit : I love this song (My Wish, Rascal Flats), but I cannot imagine using it as my father/daughter dance song because I would be bawling my eyes out the entire time!!
