I think it would be fine. I don’t like to dance and I offered for my husband to go and do the mother/son dance without me doing any dancing. He opted not to, but I wouldn’t have minded and really don’t care what other people would have thought! I don’t think it would be worth it for you to miss out on something that you’ve really been looking forward to just b/c he doesn’t want to do it.

We did a father daughter dance, but no mother son cuz hubs didn’t feel she deserved it, and was afraid she would embarass him.  No one has said anything, and it worked out fine for us

“I hope you Dance” is always a good song for Mother/Son, Father/Daughter.

My fiance isn’t too keen on dancing with his mom either.  I told him it is his decision but he needs to remember that it is probably something she’s been looking forward to, so he needs to take that into consideration.  I did suggest that he dance with his mom while I dance with my dad so he’s not totally in the spotlight.   Do you think this would be an option?

If he doesn’t dance with her, I don’t think it’s weird at all!

I don’t really want to do a father/daughter dance, but my FH wants to do a mother/son. I’m just gonna suck it up and we’re doing a combined dance.  I think it would be ok if your SO talks to his mother about it and she understands.  Hopefully it isn’t something she is looking forward to.

We’re combining and doing them at once to the song Sweet Pea by Amos Lee.  Then it’s not like all the attention is on just 2 people.. at least is can be spread out a little.
