I’ve started seriously thinking about my music choices, and am trying to decide on a song for the father/daughter dance.
My dad and I have a wonderful relationship, and he’s done so much for me throughout my life. Instead of making the song about Daddy’s little girl, I’d like to make it more of a tribute to him and how much I love him and appreciate everything he’s done for me. Right now I’m thinking about Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler and I Turn to You by Christina Aguilera.
Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

cmp04d: We danced to Unforgettable by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. It was beautiful and a nice tribute to our relationship.

KatiePi: I love that song too, but that’s the song my fiancé and his mom are dancing to. His mom used to play that album all the time in the car when he was little, so it has special meaning for them.

cmp04d: Ah, damn. What about “The Way You Look Tonight” (there are several versions-Tony Bennet, Harry Connick Jr., Steve Tyrell)?

cmp04d: how about “Daddy’s Hands” by Holly Dunn?

hmmm….I’ve always loved Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle or I Loved Her First by Heartland. Ironicallly, these are both country-ish songs and I’m not a huge country fan but I love these two. For my own wedding, I let my dad pick the song. The whole wedding was centered around me and Darling Husband so I wanted that moment to be all about him. He ended up choosing Daddy’s Little Girl because it was a special song for us when I was little. However, he threw a little twist in. He had a family friend sing it and play it on accoustic guitar…..and the family friend even wrote a second verse that was specific to just me and dad. It was awesome and such a great surprise

“I love you just the way you are” by Billy Joel. That was our song. it was aboute his unconditional support.
My song with my godfather was “If you Need me” by Bruce Springsteen. That song is awesome too.
I’m lucky to have two unconditionally supportive father figures.

Danced with my dad last night to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor. My dad is a huge JT fan and I grew up listening to him and his songs 🙂

My suggestion would be “daddy lets dance” by Jamie Tate or Natalie Grant’s “always be your baby “
