I think as long as it is a song that means something to the two of you then it is completely ok.  You could introduce the song telling everyone that your dad would sing it and dance around and that it brings fond memories to the two of you then start the song and y’all dance.  I’m sure your dad would enjoy that you played his song for y’all to dance to:)

Since the song has sentimental meaning to you, it is most definitely appropriate to dance to. Don’t pick something that doesn’t feel right or that neither of you care for just because it is considered “wedding-appropriate”. If one or both of you don’t like the song, the discomfort will show while you are dancing.

I agree with the previous posters. Whatever song you choose should have meaning for both of you.
