My friend and her father did their dance to a Bob Marley song (Jammin maybe?) – it was a light hearted song and NOT sappy at all!

“A Wink and A Smile” by Harry Connick Jr

“Celebration” by kool and the Gang

“Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder

“Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns n’ Roses

We are doing “My Wish” bby Rascal Flatts – not too sappy, and Fiance and his mom are also going to dance at the same time.

Also check out this website:  http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/father-daughter-dance-songs  TONS of songs!

If you have a strained relationship, that will come across and create an awkward environment even if you pick an upbeat neutral song. It is ok to skip it and in your case, that might be the better option. Otherwise, if you absolutely must have the dance no matter what, the song choices listed above are a good place to start.
