Ohhhhhhh dude I hear ya, as a fellow Amanda, my dad suggested “Amanda” by Boston. He thought it was funny and cute, because its  my name, and where I live.

The lyrics…no…just NO. Not cute.  I don’t have a touchy feely relationship with my dad to begin with, so just…EW.

But I also didn’t want to dictate the one part of the wedding he plays such an important role in. So I made a list of a bunch of songs (like 15) that I’d be OK with and asked him to please choose from those. He ended up choosing a great Bruce Springsteen song that we’re both very happy with.

Tell him you are using your ONE veto on any song with your name in it….(because Barry Manilow is just as bad…hehe)

I think that this is a really important thing to your dad. My dad has chosen its a wonderful world because when he hears it he always thinks its a wonderful girl. He/ DJ is going to explian this prior to the dance. Perhaps you can write something to explian dad’s pick as well? Something that makes your new hubby and his fam realize this isnt about him but the connection between you and your dad. I would let your dad have the song. Is Fiance a cowboy? if not i don’t see how this is to hurtful to him. Perhas in the explianation you can say how you have become a gentlemans wife and how everyone is so happy or something. Good Luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

@LaTortuga:  This is a good suggestion. You or the DJ or your dad could do an intro or an outro about it to emphasize that it’s about you and your dad.
